This is really based on individual situations. My grandfather is 83 and he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1990. The thing about it is, his life expectancy was only 3-5 years after they removed his prostate with the cancer and did radiation. The cancer is in remission and has been since it was removed. Now, my grandfather-in-law, was diagnosed with emphysema and died with-in the year. So, like I said, it depends on the person and if they were diagnosed early and got the medical treatments that they needed or if they didn't find out until the condition was too advanced.
Okay, lung cancer, the life expectancy is probably 40-60, there again, depending on when they found out and what they did. HIV/AIDS, could go any way. HIV, the life expectancy could be til late in life, 60,70, maybe 80. AIDS, are a little different, because the HIV has progressed into AIDS, and it makes it a whole lot different. Even with the medicine, the person usually doesn't die from AIDS itself, but from other infections because the immune system is nil. Diabetes, is very manageable and if the blood sugar and the insulin are kept in good control, and the person follows the very strict set diet and exercise plan, keep their blood pressure and weight down, life expectancy is 60-90.

Because of the other underlying health issues (heavy smoker, AIDS, diabetes) that compromise the immune system, treating the lung cancer will be extrememly difficult. The body will not be able to recover from the aggressive chemotherapy that is required. Radiation will probably have little effect in terms of curing the disease and will mainly be used for palliation. Unfortunately it sounds like this individual will succumb to lung cancer sooner than later. I give him a couple years tops.

well, depending on the age that they developed these diseases and their other health issues, they could live just a few years or suffer quite some time...the diabetes can be treated with insulin...cancer and aids have no cure...
i have known people to live quite some time with cancer, if caught early, they can live too long (it is a miserable disease) and the aids...well, i have known a few, also, who have lived for a while (horrible existance)

As long as he is himself. Once he has compromised, he is as good as dead. He does not live, he just exists.
