I thought all the devil can do is entice, coerce, lure or trick someone into doing an act against the divine, but he can't MAKE anyone do something, its always the person's choice right? ( this applicable to every religion i think....)

Just like can he really plant thoughts in someone's head?

I don't believe in 'The Devil'. All the wrong I do is my own choice. People use 'the devil' as an excuse for their awful behavior.

No, we are often tempted by the devil, but we have choices to make for good or evil. The Bible says "Resist the devil and he will flee from you". It also says in 1 Corinthians 10 v 13
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Yes. Anytime you did something really wrong, just blame Satan and pretend that you were 'over-come by demons'. If people question you about your behavior too much, fall on the ground, flop around, and start talking in a real raspy voice. Blaspheme, make rude and offensive comments, make false prophecies. Soon people who know you will come to realize that you are not responsible for your own actions.

Well The generals of Germany during the WWII were only following orders. Hitler made them do it!
LOL

But an individual can be possessed, and then the Devil (which ever one or ones) is more in control of the body possessed than the person.

There's no such thing as the devil. When people claim their behavior is the result of the devil's work, it just means they refuse to take responsibility for their own behavior. These are weak people.

dude, have you ever heard of FREE WILL? yeah, i believe everyone has the power of free will, so they can therefore choose or decide themselves what actions they wish to carry out. i dont believe in "The Devil", but i do believe that every child is the light of the world and at the same time its darkness; wherefore must the question of education be accounted as of primary importance. if people are educated from the beggining of their lives, they can learn the difference between good and evil and learn to act accordingly.

I'm not a 100% positive, but I think the saying originated with a comedy act by an old comedian named Flip Wilson. It was hilarious. No one can make you do anything you don't want to...but it sure provides a nice excuse!

Satan is the Great Deceiver! He can't MAKE any of us do anything, just as God can't MAKE us follow Him! We all have choices to make in life, and we are to be responsible for our choices.

My kids tried the "devil made me bad" copout and it didn't work with us and it won't work for God either! The devil can tempt us with lies but ultimately, we make our own choices of our actions and words. Just remember, ALL will be held accountable in the end!

It is a true statement. At least he/she admits that he/she is devil possessed. Thoughts are initiated by spirit and through thoughts mind activates body. If he/she could kill the thought when it was initiated the result would have been different.

This is reason Jesus said, "hate the sin and love the sinner".
