I mean, it's more of a life or death issue, isn't it? If you stay in there too long you come out hard boiled yourself. So surely they have to check, right? Count those little grains of sand one by one?
I promise no more egg timer questions if you give me nice answers! At least no more under cooking.

PS in the sauna I go to, it's a egg timer, but a large one. Maybe it would do for swan eggs.

They are usually standard mechanical or digital timers installed on a sauna. Again, it doesn't often matter if the timer runs 22 minutes instead of 20 minutes.
However, yes, sauna timers have to be much more accurate than egg timers, PLUS, they have to be more reliable.
People actually die every year in sauna accidents when the timer fails, and they have for some reason passed out in the sauna without a friend to monitor them.
Alcohol or other intoxicants are often involved in sauna deaths.
Alcohol, and I presume other intoxicants, do not go well with either saunas, or steam baths, because it makes it too easy for the subject to lose consciousness.
Addendum: Something happening here I don't understand in re: YA.

When you go into the sauna do you want to come out hard boiled or soft boiled? One thing is certain, rolling in the snow or plunging into cold water afterwards does help to remove the shell.
