Sorry but I strongly recommend you not to fly to New York,because of frequent terrorist attacks.Because of attack in London you cannot take iPod on airplane but only next things:
-Passport and personal documents
-Little money pockets with money,credit cards etc.
-Glasses for sun and reading,contact lenses
-Women's sanitary items-unpacked
-Keys-with no electric add-ons
-Pills and baby food
Your hand bags must be putted in lougage!
