Yeah because a lot of kids don't get it at home.

To a point it is. I think it should not be part of required teaching though. It should be an elective to which a parent can choose for their child to attend or not. When I was in high school it was cold and matter of fact teaching. they handed out condems which gave us the message to go have fun. I don't agree with that. I believe sex education belongs in the home between parent and child. A parent needs right to choose to keep that education at home or not. I really didn't appreciate my 12 year old son coming home from school with condems either. That gives the wrong message in a big way and made my job as a parent more challenging to teach him what I feel is right from wrong.

yes I do. I think sex education should be taught sooner so students can know the dangers of sex. I think the thing most people do not think about is the different STDs out there.

Yes. As a middle school teacher I know that many of the 12, 13, and 14 year olds are already having sex, so earlier is better, and it should be an integral part of the P.E. curriculum every year.
Despite what they like you to think, so kids have some really weird ideas of how to prevent pregnancy. One of my teacher friends told me her favorite: if you drink a Diet Coke after you have sex you won't get pregnant.
Kids not only need to see films about safe sex, STD's, and have a c hance to ask questions, the school should hand out condoms to everyone...expecially the girls.
There should be separate sessions for boys and girls. Boys need lots and lots of help in why they should use a condom.
Girls need to learn how to say no...not to be pressured into sex with the "If you really loved me you'd do this for me" routine.
AND, they need to know that if a guy doesn't respect you enough to wear a condom, you have 2 choices
1.use the condom you brought with you or
2. refuse. Period. No discusion
Girls who date need a cell phone they can use to call their family and get a ride home if after #2, the guy is pissed and won't take her home.

Yes and the curriculum should integrate the subject with values education, the two subject should come together focusing on the risks of unwanted pregnancies and abortion. At the same time educate the students that sex is not suitable for their age.

Yes, as long as it is a good sex education.
Bad sex education can be even worse than none at all.

As uncomfortable as I am teaching it, yes.
STIs and unplanned pregancy can only be avoided through thorough education and an understanding of the risks, etc involved. Sex should not be a taboo subject.
