Celebrex, methotrexate or a lesser DMARD than Rituxan if you have a very serious case.

Rituxan is known to have killed people and is more readily used for cancer patients, sorry said but true and I have published journal articles here with those stats. It is a biologic...can work great it it works but once it is out of you system it could come back worse. You could be dead 24 hours after the first infusion.

Rituxan is the US trade name for the monoclonal antibody rituximab (brand-named Mabthera in Europe), an anti-lymphoma drug that has been under study for several autoimmune conditions for the past several years.

There are a number of important points that need to be made:

==> In February, it received FDA approval for use (in combination with methotrexate) in cases of rheumatoid arthritis that have failed to respond to other big-gun DMARDs. It is still used only rarely for RA--i.e., only when it appears that there is no other recourse, and only after weighing he considerable risks and drawbacks.

==> Rituxan, like a number of other DMARDs, is an extremely potent drug and, by definition, highly toxic. It must be administered--over several hours, in a hospital setting (the patient would already be sick enough to have been hospitalized, actually)--by IV infusion, a procedure that is not without considerable risk. It is extremely expensive--meaning many thousands of dollars for a single treatment. Even in those conditions for which it has been approved, its use is never undertaken casually but only when a patient's condition is deemed to be life-threatening.

Not sure what you are taking it for. It's prescribed for more than one problem. Look at the link below for more information and some useful links. You probably need to try another anti- inflammatory.

Celebrex or Rituxan; talk to a rheumatologist.
