Actually you have a higher chance for error with indoor shots...more reflection and shadows no matter how good your photographer is. I've had both.

A little filter goes a long way. I can't envision ever needing a ND at a wedding, unless you're outdoors at a waterfall where you'd like to get silky water behind the b & g. You certainly shouldn't need one by 6pm. Usually the opposite is true and you're wishing for more light, not less! When using film, I have used a soft filter for a couple of shots, and a star filter for candlelit ceremonies. With digital, special effects can be added in post processing. Use your diffusion filter on a handful, then go bare and capture clean, well exposed shots. The novelty of filter work wears thin quickly. (Same thing with heavy PS actions, as well IMHO)

If you have a good professional photographer all photos will look great. The indoor photos would be inside a church and where ever the women are getting ready. The outdoor photos can be fun, seriously posed whatever you the bride and groom want to have. My sister and her husband have photos from the two of them and their wedding party around a pool, playing basketball, etc. My outdoor photos include the "mafia" photo.

Outdoor is better because you able to enjoy the richness that is in nature. God created nature and is so good for us to enjoy as we enjoy we worship Him too. He is worthy of praise. Get a good memorial occasion outdoor and enjoy the goodness of life in all He created the trees, the flowers, the birds sing swiftly in the trees, the biwojolo butterflies and cool breeze of air it's so wonderful.

Psa 145:10 Creation and creatures applaud you, GOD;
Psa 145:11 your holy people bless you. They talk about the glories of your rule, they exclaim over your splendor,
Psa 145:12 Letting the world know of your power for good, the lavish splendor of your kingdom.
Psa 145:13 Your kingdom is a kingdom eternal; you never get voted out of office. GOD always does what he says, and is gracious in everything he does.
Psa 145:14 GOD gives a hand to those down on their luck, gives a fresh start to those ready to quit.

If the photographer knows how to handle light and shadow properly... I feel that outdoor shots are better. It feels more natural and of course it's prettier to look at.

If you get a good photographer it shouldn't matter. I personally think sunlight is more flattering. But an inside wedding can be beautiful too.

I just got married 2 weeks ago, and we got our proofs back this week. We had pictures taken both inside in the sanctuary and outside. Both turned out really good; there were excellent poses at both locations. I would suggest to ask your photographer to take poses inside and outside. It's no extra charge, so it doesn't hurt just to take both.

Sometimes. Natural lighting can make your pictures beautiful, but not if it is raining, too cloudy, or too sunny. You want just the right type of natural light (a little cloudy) or your pictures will be too harsh.
