Mine is going out to eat with my mom at Furr's cafeteria in our small home town. . .next to the nursing home. She was not in the nursing home . .it was just nearby . . .so a lot of old people went there and it was a very relaxed environment. She knew all the workers and a lot of the very old people, and just regularly old people. It was soo nice. And the FOOD was GOOD too. And everyone there was so very, very nice to me. It closed down some time later . ..but it operated for a suprisingly long time . . given that on most weekdays there were VERY few patrons. And that's what I loved about it . . . You could go there and have this whole humungous place to yourself with fabulous food and it was almost close enough to our house that we COULD walk. . .I don't know if we ever did. I don't think so. But, . . I think that I rode my bike once to eat there alone. It was like I owned the place . . cause I felt I knew everyone there too.

when I was a kid, we had a pool in our backyard, I'd invite half the neighborhood. my mom would come home after running to say hi to my dad at his store, and she'd freak out a little. but then she'd run up to the little grocery store and buy soda pop and snacks for all of us. she'll be gone 4 yrs this october, my dad just had a double bypass yesterday.....gotta hang on to those best memories, cause life goes by so fast!

When I was very small I was scared of ghosts. My mom went for a shower and I started getting scared as no one else was at home. One of the doors in our house was moving with the wind and it scared me that I started crying frantically for my mom to come out (within 2-3 mins of her going in). She hurriedly took a shower and came out and instead of shouting at me, she took me to every corner of the house where I suspected ghost dwelt and showed me it was safe and there was nothing there. It really made me feel safe. I have had alot of good memories but this was the oldest that I remember fondly of how much patience and love my mom had.

You know I have several, because you should have. I have the ones at my softball games, my wedding, clothes my mom made for me, dad taking me to work. Daddy letting me drive at 10.

The best one, for fun's sake, a market researcher came to our house. He asked us to try this new dog food called Alamo. If we tried this new dog food for a week, we would be paid 5 bucks for our comments. My mom and I gave each other a silly look. We took the bag into the kitchen, poured the contents into cereal bowls, poured in milk, and ate it.

My dad asked, "What the hell are you doing?"

The man did not say , " Feed this to your dog." He said, " Try it for a week." My mom and I laughed the whole time. We knew what he meant, but the great part was telling him that it broke apart in milk, and it was a little chalky.

With the 5 bucks, my mom took my sister and I to see the new Disney movie "The Rescurers". Ahhhhhhhhhh.........commitment to the absurd. Thanks , Mom!
