Usually, when I'm in the middle of doing something on my computer, Microsoft's box comes up and says it's going to close down in four and something minutes and restart my computer.

Just how can I stop it from doing this? HELP.

It doesn't give you the option to restart later? That's weird. You can shut it off by going into the control panel and it's in one of the tabs of the window if you click on Security Center. (I'm at work right now and can't check it out personally.) Just turn off Automatic Updates. If you want to get updates manually go into Internet Explorer, Tools, Windows Update and follow the prompts.

Go to the Control Panel and click on the Icon that says Automatic Updates. There is a list of options. Turn AutoUpdates Off. This should work for you.

It always asks if you want to restart now or "later". Just choose "later." Then you can restart when you want.

Hope that helps.

p.s. You can also set it up to check for updates anytime you want. Just click on the icon and bring up the menu.

You can turn it off or schedule it to do it at a time that you are not going to be using.--Go to start-- all programs--microsoft updates.
