I am looking for a home remedy for possible alcohol poisoning. I know that medical assistance is needed, but I would also like something I can do to ensure my friends a better outcome, even before reaching the hospital. Charcoal tablets help for most things, but i am unsure about alcohol.

I agree with PediRN. Charcoal does not absorb alcohol and you should not put anything in their mouths. The best thing to do, if they have passed out or look like they are about too, is to prop them on their side so that if they vomit, they will not inhale it and choke on it. Call for an ambulance. If they cannot control their own breathing, and protect their own airway, they may need a breathing tube (an endotracheal or ET tube) to be placed. With most ethyl (drinking) alcohol poisonings you just have to wait for them to sober up. However, for severe cases they may need dialysis.

No it does not you need to get to a hospital and don't give the person anything the last thing you need is for this person to start vomiting all over the place (if he isn't already)

Once it is in the blood, nothing we do at home will really help. Simple dilution is a good idea, but they still need to be seen ASAP.

No. The only way to absorb alcohol: Dont drink it!
