Pablo Ruiz Picasso was the very first artist to experiment with "deconstructivism" and suceed.
He started learning art, and when he was able to paint and sculpt with such a realism as that protrayed by the great renaisance masters his style begun. He proposed that an image could be sumed up to a mere concept, which could be captured with the simplicity of a child, end expressed with the true feelings of the artist.
He was the first one to be successful, and he is one of the most, if not the most prolific artist in the history of the world.
It came to a simple rule of supply and demand that his prices, not easily affordable for everybody, became prohibitive even during his life time.
Picasso's work has been described as "alive" and it always generated interest whenever it was exhibited, maybe because of the novelty of his style.
Also, when some of the wealthiest people in the world became interested in his work, it became kind of in "fashion"
The rest is history. This year two of his paintings broke the record for the highest price ever payed for a painting. The first, "Dora Maar au chat" was sold on May third, at Sotheby's New York for $95'216.000.00; the second, just two days later, "Garcon a la pipe", was sold for $104'168,000.00

Pablo Picasso did not start out painting like a three-year-old with really large crayons. His art was developed over many years, undergoing many phases. Check out his "Blue Period". It is touching to say the least. If you are fan of realism seek out his earliest works and you will see that he too can paint and sketch like the grand masters of old.
Of course Picasso gained fame with his surrealistic paintings because of its ingenuity and raw emotional content. You could also thank the art critics who both hailed and trashed his paintings making him renowned world wide. As it is with many painters, the value of their works multiply exponentially with their death. This merely places value for its rarity since there won't be any more Picasso's created. However, if you truly appreciate his art, then you will know that it's value is intrinsic.

Picasso is the finest painter of all times, he is also the most prolific . He, paints, Draws, Sculpts and was just most talented Artist who has ever lived. His subject matter is limitless and his Abstract style of people and their dimensional features our outstanding and totally original, few can copy Picasso's style! I very much like his Abstract women, with their 3 dimensional faces and distorted expressions. That's why Picasso's go for so much money.pco---phx18

I think it's important to remember to always put the artist in context with their time to understand why they may have been so highly regarded. Picasso challenged people to question their standards of beauty, challenged their way of thinking and although certainly not the first, brought political commentary into some of his paintings. There is a tremendous amount of meaning in his some of his most famous pieces.

Pablo Picasso lived a long time, and in his career, he went through many phases and created new ways of seeing ordinary objects and people. His work is in demand, and much of it is museums and the hands of private collectors. The French created a museum of his work so that his heirs could collect their inheritance. The value of Frances share is estimated at $50,000,000, and fills a mansion with piantings, statues, and sculpture. His work was unique from what others were doing at the time, so in many respects he was a trailblazer in his profession.

His paintings?drawings are very over rated, maybe he would of been a good high shool art teacher, other than that the media and public created what came of it all.

Im guessing its anti-culture and the new post modernism. You see it in buildings too. Where shapes of objects seem to have no real traditional or historical influence. Just random shapes put together.
