Talking to several people from various faiths and denominations, one of the common key factors is how mean, manupilative and nasty people are on the inside of the church, temple or centre. The irony is, that is where the teachings of Love, Harmony, Peace, Patience and all the other virtues are disseminated. I have even seen for myself Pastor vs Pastor in internal lobbying and poltics... negative bytching CAN'T be good can it?

Inherently flawed human behaviour becomes more visible when you're in an organisation that focuses on curbing it.

That's because of many different reasons... the main reason being is that most people think that just because they are faithful to one particular religion that they are automatically and always forgiven and that no matter what they do, they can do no wrong. This can make people mean, nasty and maniuplative.
Money also has a lot to do with it too... Well off people and well off churches seem to have their own clicks. When you have strict religion you can do no wrong, when you have money you can wiggle or buy your way out of any situation. Which doubles the power.
Religions also tend to compete with one another as well. One religion believes that their faith is better while the other does so too. Every religion has its own practices and those practices can be seem as wrong from others which can create tension and competition.

I have seen this in all types of organization. The best and the worst of people are not restricted to any one type of organization.
You may think that because the organization is religious then it should only attract the best of the people. But this is not God's plan. We are all to work together, and working with those difficult people is part of what we must learn to do. Especially where we have expectations of someting else.
And Allah knows best.
Peace and Blessings,
Salim

Depends on your religious community. I'm rather fond of the Druids, Bards and Ovates at our grove. Good people who support the community as a whole and one another, and they're on good terms with the other folk and clerics in the area. Not sure what more you'd want. :)

this is a stereotype I have found only on this site! Do you have a pastor? mine is genuine and kind, and goes the extra mile to help people in any need. The church members are in church because they want to be but also they NEED to be just as sick people are in the hospital.

when it comes to pastor vs pastor hon, you find that everywhere. but that is how the what they call the old man in us works and humans can be very nasty at times. I get alot of that myself, I get you have to watch what you say and how you say it when it comes to speaking of those things and too where you speak them. yes the church is where we are suppose to be able to learn those things you speak of and at home from our parents as well. but, it don't always work that way. Just keep your faith and pray for them pray god puts a hedge of thorns around you so you will learn to be able to desern that. god bless you

That has happened since the beginning with Lucifer and of course, Cain, Judas etc. Misery loves company and Misery's favorite company are the loving smiley folks. It seems that if you don't have any serious opposition you're not doing much good.

Every organization has some internal bickering. After all, churches are structures of stone as much as they are houses of worship, and man is a political animal.

Religions do not save you. Jesus saves.
He came to the earth to free us from religions. He taught us to have a personal relationship with God.
Jesus is the way and the truth and the life.
