My husband has a red circle, white in the middle, on his lower back. Is this ringworm and how do you get rid of it? I put antibiotic cream on it but it didn't seem to affect it.

CAUTION:
you say you are applying the cream to your husband's back. Since Ringworm is contagious, make sure you wash your hands well afterward, and if you happen to touch parts of your body or someone else's, it's possible you have already spread it to there.
RINGWORM:
Ringworm is classified as any of a number of contagious skin diseases caused by several related fungi, characterized by ring-shaped, scaly, itching patches on the skin and generally classified by its location on the body. Also called tinea.

If the condition persists, then it would be wise to consult your doctor or dermatologist as soon as possible, since the condition is contagious and would probably spread to others in your household.

Ringworm is a highly contagious fungal infection of the skin. It can only be treated with antifungal meds like lotrimin cream used for feet. However, if the rings are on or near the hairline, a prescription (usually oral) med will be needed.
This is not a worm of any kind. It appears as a red slightly raised rash that grows in a ring. The center bcomes white as the ring grows and the ring usually stops growing at about an inch. New spots will then appear. It itches and causes temporary hair loss.

Ringworm is a contagious infection that can effect the scalp, the body ( particularly the groin), the feet and nails.
Another name for ringworm (Tinea)

Has he been lying on his back on the ground? Ringworm looks like a little worm running around and around in a circle. It is not one big red patch.
It can usually be cured by lotrimin since it is a fungus. Go to Walmart and get the Equate brand, it is substantially cheaper. If that doesn't work, a trip to the doctor is in order.
Tell him not to scratch. It is contagious so watch out.

First of all a ring worm isn't really a worm. It is a skin condition. It is very common, but I think in order to get rid of it you have to have a prescription. Your husband needs to see a doctor. Talk to your pharmacist first, just in case an over counter medication has been approved in the past few years. Good luck, also it may be itchy, and it's usually scaly like eczema.

YUCK! I had that - I touched a stray cat so we could take it to the stray pet facility. OMG, it's terrible. It's got a stingy itch and it spreads.
We tried the ointment, didn't really work - went to the DR and he gave us two weeks worth of that stuff they advertise on TV for nail fungus - the one with Digger. That helped.
Ended up scarred from the first one.

put it in a websearch you will get a picture and you need something for fungus to kill it , nothing over the counter will do it i dont think or they used to use ultraviolet light, sooooooo maybe a tanning booth, but im not sure, you get it usually from working in grass or soil, laying on the lawn, planting things, etc.

it's a fungus, you need RX from doc to get rid of it...it sounds like thats what it is..

its very common, i had it on my foot. my doctor gave me a cream to get rid of it. boy that tasted wierd.
