If youre just following the teachings..what about all that peace, love and understanding Jesus taught? And why do you have to force your beliefs on others? Or make war against them when they don't? Can't you just live your own lives by your Book and let us do as we wish? Live and let live? Where does it say you have to bomb a clinic or mosque?

I've read both old and new Testaments, and youre right, for the most part it is about love. So once again if Christianity is about love, why are so many Christians hateful?

"Hate the sin and love the sinner" is a good idea. Too bad it's rarely applied that way. Actively discriminating against people because their beleifs are different or ideals are different, or are different because of something they were born as is a symptom of the doctrine of exclusivity. Christiamity claims that it, and it alone is the only possible "Truth". What so many Christians fail to see is that no two Christian sects can agree on just what that "Truth" is. One would think that an all-knowing being would be able to communicate its message in a way that did not allow room for such wildly diverse interpetations.

Has anyone ever noticed that the things people often claim God "hates" often coincide with the things that the people hate? Just a coincidence? Obedience to their God? I hardly think so. I think people pick and choose what they want to out of the Bible (or other sacred writings) to justify their already deeply-held fears and prejeduces. After all, if your petty bigotry is approved by God, there's no reason for you to try to fix it is there? A liscense to be a jerk, or worse a hater, and feel good about it.

The acts of hatred and madness that were descibed in the OP are all actions that have been taken by Christians. A handful of posters here have tried to justify those actions. I'm not sure which is more despicable.

Others here have insisted that the perps of these acts are "not true Christians." Has anyone ever heard of the "No True Scotsman" fallicy? The biggest problem with that is defnining exactly who is a Christian and who is not. The members of the "Army of God" and "Christian Identity" have very different ideas about who is "true" than mainstrean Catholics or Universalists. Since the single common characteristic of all these groups is a belief in the Christian God (and sometimes in the divinity of Jesus of Nazereth), I can only clonclude that they are all vividly different versions of Christians and leave it at that.

First off I'm christian and no i don't hate the gays, no i won't have sex before marriage because that's my choice and not yours, no i don't hate birth control because if stupid people are going to do dumb actions they might as well not bring an innocent child into the world. I don't hate psychics i just don't believe in their practices, no i don't hate divorced people because if they can't get along well what an you do. Yes as a product of being born out of wedlock i dislike it i don't hate it, it's just not fair to the child, sex isn't worth it, everyone dislikes other races so i don't know why you are trying to act like you are so darn perfect. and everyone hates or dislikes what they are scared of how in the world do you think stereotypes got into play? and no they don't bomb churches and catholics, i have several friends who are different religions than me dumb*** it's called an open mind, and it's called getting educated obviously your have neither that's why your so redundant, and couldn't even have a basis for you biased views if it dropped out of the sky, you judge to much, and you don't know what you're talking about, don't ask anymore questions, you'll just be wasting everyones time.
pick up a bible once in a while
it won't hurt you, heck it might even teach you how to read properly!

Christians are not the only hateful people. I don't hate those people. And a Christian if truly a Christian they do not hate those people. For the most part they hate what those people do. They hate the immorality. What do you want me to say I love people who kill other people when I don't like the things they did. I don't force my beliefs on other people. Some do, I agree. Catholic children are still Christians. There is hate without Christians. . Yes, many Christians have done wrong, but I cannot speak for them. I can only speak for myself. Those are extremists those who bomb. Ignorance is what it is. I love everyone, but that doesn't mean that I can sit by and agree with what they do in my own life. What a person does is in their conscience, whether they think it is right or not is their decision. But I don't have to agree with it. And they still have that right to speak out if my beliefs are encroached upon.

A real Christian can not hate anyone. But asking that of someone is asking something very difficult and most people fail. You have to ask yourself what is a real Christian. Those "Christians" that are so willing to hate are not true Christians because they don't follow the teachings of Jesus. I don't care if they give gifts for Christmas... they're NOT Christians. I don't care if they go to church, they are blind to Christianity. Christianity is a beautiful faith. Jesus did not found it on the basis of a religion or else he would have given specific laws to govern life, the way it is in Judaism and Islam. Christianity is a faith based on Philosophy. It is closest in nature to Buddhism. It's the failure of some "Christians" to see their own hypocrisy that has corrupted the religion that they had made of the faith. But the religion and the faith are two different things that should not be confused for each other. Jesus taught a philosophy on life and those who believe in him have faith. Those who go to church and have a "holier than thou" attitude are a disgrace to humanity, and especially Christianity because they pretend to represent it.

Well the term Christian means to be Christ like. People can claim to be anything. I don't think though being against the things you mention and hating are the same thing. I believe we should all stand up for our own convictions. Why don't people protest children being abused, murdered or violent acts against other humans and then picket for animal rights?
I think that people are too worried about being politically correct and should worry more of being morally sound and as far as abortion well lets face it murder is murder rather its an unborn baby or killing the abortionist.

If you would bother to actually ask true Christian if they hate what you 'claim' they hate, all of them would disagree with you. As a true Christian I do not hate any of those things you 'claim' we hate. The so called Christians are the radicals that cause the rest of us to look bad. But if that is what you want to do, label everyone together, there is really nothing I can do to stop you or change your mind. At least you are able to park close to malls and stores with your Intellectually Handicapped Sticker.

Why? Why? Why? did you ask this question. I have never taught hate, I have never bombed a clinic, or catholic girls going to school. I don't hate other religions, or gays or girls who have children without getting married Why?Why?Why? do you think Christians are full of hate. I spent my time feeding people in Hong Kong who lived in squaters camps in the hills,I worked with Cambodian refugees to help them assimilate to our country. We build hospitals and schools and churches around the world and we even have home for unwed mothers and you think this is hate.

The next time your in trouble see who will help you.
I know that right now the Salvation Army is feed the hungry, helping gay teens who have run away from home and trying to find space for another wife who left her husand after one more beating.

The soup kitchen around the nation are run by Christians.

Why?Why?Why? do you think this is hate? Please visit your local Church this Sunday and see the hate.

Most Christians have bed teaching. It says it love the person but hate the sin. Most hate the person because they sin.

The Christian army is the only army in the world that kills their own wounded.

I am a Christian and I see the errors for most teachings in the church today anyway
