You already gave them away. I'm sorry too that the kittens died, it sounds like the neighbor didn't take dogs behavior into consideration. That's a shame.

How sad :-( The kitten should be okay as long as it interacts with children or other cats. Last year I adopted two kittens (named Sugar and Spice) from the same litter. Spice became very ill (we think from swallowing a pill that was dropped on the floor) Sugar has been healthy and happy since them. I would just make sure that the kitten left is socialized. Upon a recent visit to the animal shelter I heard a volunteer say that the kittens there are put together in the cages with lots of kittens from other litters to make sure they grow up to be friendly. Playing with young children or other kittens both help to make a healthy, well-adjusted adult feline.

She will miss her for a bit probably, but she'll get over it pretty quickly. But in your place, I'd be wondering what the neighbor was doing letting the poor kitten get close to a dog.
If it's your neighbor's dog that did it, I would ask them if they'd consider giving the other kitten back. If not, consider asking them if they've considered making the surviving kitten an indoor kitty. Point out that cats who are strictly indoor live longer, are healthier, and bond more closely with their humans, and are not vulnerable to the kinds of accidents that cost them their other kitten.
I'm so sorry to hear about the kitten who died.

That is horrible I am so sorry.. The other kitten is going to be fine. When you give kittens away out of a litter they do very well after a couple of days. So same goes for it missing it's sibling now in a couple of days she will not even remember she was there She does need to be removed from the dangerous situation before it is too late and something happens to her too.. Good luck and sorry that had to happen.

Yes it may miss its sibling even more after each week they were together. It may have impact on the cat but cats or kittens forget things fast sadly or good in this case. Within 1-2 weeks things should be getting back to normal for the cat. Buying a new kitten will help speed up the process or healing.
Good luck that's sad.

I'm afraid the other kitten might get bitten by the dog, also. The other kitten will go along fine without the sister. Things like that, that upset us humans are seen differently by animals.

I know vets say cats/kittens get over removal from family pretty quickly, and maybe since the other is a kitten, it won't be as traumatic.
On the other hand, I've had some older cats, and when another has disappeared, they have howled and been upset for quite some time. Love it double.

Why would you give a kitten away to someone that was not responsible enough to care for this kitten to begin with? I would take the poor kitten out of that place ASAP or it will not live long either. Offer to pay for the kitten or whatever it takes to get the kitten back.

Being only a kitten, she probably will notice something different, but she should eat and act normal after she gets adjusted to not having the other kitten around. Whether or not she will miss her or not, I have no clue, but everything will be ok. Just don't worry about it. Dogs get more attacted to other animals and people than cats do, they are more idependent animals. Your kitten should be fine, I can almost garentee it.
