I'm not a military spouse, but I'm a married soldier who's done his time overseas (including Iraq) and its just a matter of time before I go back. And I have to say, I've seen very little of anyone attacking soldiers (or their spouses) for fighting a pointless war. I've seen a little, but hell, there's people out there who think the moon landing was faked. There's a few crazies, but what the majority of comments I've heard are alot of people attacking the President and his Administration for sending our soldiers into a pointless war. And I have no problem with that. In fact, I wish there was more of it. It's not our fault, or even our concern as soldiers that this is a pointless war, and if that hurts your feelings, spouses, then don't get mad at the messenger, get mad at the guys who sent us into that pointless war. The fact that the war is pointless is not any kind of an aspersion on your husbands, and don't take it as one. I'd say that the vast majority of people who mention it don't mean it as a cut on your husband, they mean it as a lamentation that we soldiers have been misused.
America is advanced citizenship, and sometimes it means standing up and saying "We as a country screwed up and we have to try to fix what we've done" Just cause we've chosen to do something doesn't mean it can't be a mistake, and blaming those who've pointed out our mistakes just mires us in more denial.

My fiance (US Marine) and I think that some of the war is pointless and dumb. However, things are the way they are for a reason.
I haven't had an issue yet (surprised) about other people bashing my fiance. I always get a positive response.
However, my fiance has got others opinion's and been told to never place his hand on a bible unless he wants to burn up. Stuff like that. He just says you have to believe first. (He is atheist and I am Christian. I respect him as he does me. Others can't seem do to that I guess).
I am proud of my Marine and hope he comes home tomorrow from being stationed in Japan. He might have to serve a second term in Iraq this coming spring. It's hard and don't agree with some of the war. However, I support my Marine and any other person in the service.
You get a thumbs up since those are good questions to think about.

I know exactly what you mean. My hubby is over there right now, and I read some of these things, especially on here, and it drives me nuts!!! Unfortunately though everyone has the right to say whatever they want, no matter how much it PO's anyone else. Thats just one of the things about living in America. As one of my favorite movies states
"America isn't easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, 'cause it's gonna put up a fight. It's gonna say "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours."
It's just a shame good people die, and our loved ones fight to defend morons.

Yes, the other day I was told that my husband was a coward (he's an A-10 pilot). It's the price we pay for freedom. Thank you for bringing this up. It makes me feel like there are others out there who support us. It also reminds me of what the Vietnam veterans went through.
