They denied my entry to the USA last time because I did not have a return ticket. I am a Canadian citizen. I was actually planning to drive back with a friend but they would not hear me at all. They did not say anything like I was banned from entering or anything like that but they just said that I could not enter the states on that day. They also took my pic and my fingerprints. What do you think my chances are this time if I try again?

They see a record of all the trips you have taken, where you took them to, and when you took them. They also see a record of felonies and convictions, as well as a record of charges, even if they were dismissed.
They may have refused you entry because you had crossed the border recently, or they may have just been in a swivet about tightening security and anything that doesn't strike them as 'normal' behaviour can become a reason to deny you admittance.
Without knowing more about your background, it's hard to say if you will be admitted if you try again, but if there are no felonies involved, and if you haven't exceeded your six months less a day (the amount of time in one year that a Canadian is allowed to stay in the US without a visa) then you likely would be granted admission.
Customs and immigration are a law unto themselves, and don't have to explain anything to anyone. It's really annoying when something like that happens and you don't know why, so you aren't able to correct the situation.

After 9-11 the government began being extremely strict on their own citizens. My daughter drove with my niece back to California to help her with all her animals. She had been going to college and graduated. She was going back to California to live after graduation.

My brother bought my daughter a one way ticket back to Oklahoma. She was only 18 years old, looks about as innocent as they come. Several people questioned her. Looked through her purse and carry ons like they thought she was going to hijack the plane.

I know anything is possible, but give me a break, she wasn't really a likely suspect. She went through all of this just because she had a one way ticket instead of roundtrip.

It really annoyed me the way they treated her, but maybe if they keep treating people this way, there won't be anything else happening like 9-11. So, if the U.S. does this to their own citizens, please don't be too offended if they do it to people living outside of the USA.

I'm not really sure but I am glad I read this question. I am also Canadian and I am planning to go to South Carolina and drive back with a friend as well. I will have to look into it a bit more.

Thanks for the heads up! Good luck in the future.

Call the embassy and ask how to handle it. It has to come up from time to time.
