Why don't MOST guys open doors and pull/push chairs in anymore for ladies? I don't get it.

i totally agree! I have this guy bestfriend . we've been friends for almost 6 years and he NEVER holds the door for me. Except this one time he tried to do it, but he ended up stepping on my foot. We're only 16 btw. Guys need to learn to be gentlemen!

It wasn't something that they were brought up with. I guess you could say it's all in the teaching and the self-teaching. But then again, nowadays girls think that they should prove that they can open the door for themselves and that they sure don't need a guy to do it for them so they never give him a chance to. I think it is really sweet to have the door opened for me. At other times, depending on who I'm with, I'll wait by the door until they get a clue that it needs opening. Like a silent request. If more women did this, more guys would open doors and bring out the gentleman in them. I can see when a guy will pull the chair out for a woman but it annoys me to have it pushed in. I always get the feeling that they're going to pull it out again. :)

It isn't really necessary. I'd feel weird if my boyfriend pushed or pulled a chair for me. After all, I can do it myself. As for the door, whoever is closest opens it.

I don't know. I like having doors open for me, but I would not like for anyone to pull or push my chair out. I am not handicapped and I would feel a little weird if a man helped seat me. I would feel like he respected me, but in the back of my mind I would feel like he was too old fashioned and that he needed to get up to date and not make me feel like he was in control. I am not that dainty. lol :)

The people who say that it depends in how you are brought up hit it on the head. I hold the door and open the car door for my girlfriend because it feels natural to do it.

The fact is now a days "some" guys just don't know how to display manners. They assume women want to be liberated which means they can do things are their own. Honestly we both know that showing manners is the way to go.

i still do open car doors and other doors for my women. I will do it for other women just to be courtious. I try to treat my lady like a lady and not take her for granted.

I had one girlfriend claim that she found it insulting. Claiming that she was perfectly capable of opening doors and sitting in chairs by herself.

women want to be independent so .... we let em be... and then they ***** at us for not helping them. If ya want to act like a man and get paid like a man then don't expect us to open doors, or lift that heavy object off the floor for ya. Your On your own now.. That what they wanted and now they got it.

because of the women's rights movement. a lot of women dont want men to do things like that. they feel slighted by it. like because a guy opened a door for a woman, that she couldnt have done it herself... chivalry started to go when women's independence started to grow
