Shampoo either daily or every other day with shampoos that DO NOT contain:
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
- Sodium Laureth Sulfate
- Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate
- Ammonium Laureth Sulfate

^^^ Shampoos with these detergents are found everywhere (local drugstores, markets, etc.) because they're cheap detergents that create suds (bubbles) quick but that means it really strips your hair of its natural oils and dries out the strands and possibly, your scalp too.

Anyway, good shampoos are found at local health stores, like Whole Foods, if you're in the U.S. and so forth. Always check the labels and ingredients. Aubrey Organics sell good shampoos but they don't create much bubble and it's kinda hard to wash hair with. I prefer shampoos from Avalon Organics. (Both found at Whole Foods).

Afterwards, while hair is still damp, apply an oil. You could use Rosemary Oil, Emu Oil, etc. With oils, you don't need a lot; just a few drops will make your look healthy and keep it from getting frizzy.

Then, comb hair from the bottom working your way up to the scalp. Comb the ends first and just work up to the scalp.
After you've combed your hair, just leave it (unless you're gonna blow-dry). Combing too much while the hair is wet leads to damage and split ends since the hair is more fragile when wet.

Use a good shampoo and conditioner- like Paul Mitchell, Nexxus. Use a protective gel, mousse, spray or serum on your hair that puts a protective coating on it before using heat-styling products, get your hair trimmed regulary, and protect if from too much sun.

This tip has definitely helped me.

NEVER brush wet hair! ALWAYS use a comb. The brush is too harsh and violent and wet hair is too delicate. Also, comb your hair in the shower while the conditioner is still in it!

well, genetics for good hair matters a LOT.

after that,
a healthy diet, lots of fruit and veggies, but don't give up protein.

Don't bleach your hair. Either have a pro do it, or leave it alone.

Beyond that, it depends on your particular hair.

use a good shampoo and conditioner and use a deep conditioner once a week and have it trim every 6-8 weeks and you can use a shine serum for added shine (rinse your hair in cool water when rinsing conditioner)
