Corinthians chapter 14:
"As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."
This seems like a straightforward passage. And God is the one who inspired the Bible. In Isaiah 40:8 God says that the word of the Lord will last forever, and he says the same thing again in 1 Peter 1:24-25. So here we have God, in his eternal and everlasting Word, saying that it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.
This quote from 1 Corinthians 11 is important:
"But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled dishonors..

her head--it is the same as if her head were shaven. For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her wear a veil. For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. (For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.) That is why a woman ought to have a veil on her head, because of the angels.
Then there is this section from 1 Timothy chapter 2:
Also that women should adorn themselves modestly and sensibly in seemly apparel, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly attire but by good deeds, as befits women who profess religion. Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent.

Are any of Jesus' disciples women? No.
Are any of the elders in the book of Revelation women? No.
Are any of the books of the Bible written by women? No.
If you think about it, you will realize that there is something quite odd about this situation. In spite of the fact that the Bible is supposed to be God's eternal Word, modern human beings totally reject God's sexism. Modern human beings completely ignore God:
We make women the CEOs of major corporations.
We elect women to high government offices.
We appoint women as presidents of universities.
We fill our schools with female teachers.
We allow women to speak freely in church.

I think you misunderstand. Please remember that in the time these books were witten, what the standing of women was! They "belonged" to their husbands! Actually, Jesus lifted women up and gave them positions of honor. He defended the woman who broke the perfume over her head, when one of His disciples (Judas) rebuked her. Who did he appear to the morning of his resurrection? A woman. And there were indeed many women who travelled with him...and later, with the disciples. And of course, He interceded and turned away those men who were about to stone an adulteress.
The bible says in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, slave nor free. In a Christian marriage, yes, the man is called to be the head of the household. And a wife is called to submit to her husband. But people have this confused. It doesn't mean submit to an abusive husband! God's word admonishes husbands to love their wives as Jesus does the church. Jesus scolded the religious leaders on their position of divorce....a man could divorce his wife just because she displeased him. Jesus let them know, in no uncertain terms, this was not acceptable.
The verse about a woman not speaking in church had to do with orderliness in the church during the service. And didn't the woman at the well walk into her town and proclaim she had met the Messiah? Therefore, women drew men to Jesus even then.
To the untrained eye, and I mean no offense, these verses look like God is prejudiced. In my experience, the opposite is so. He protects, loves, respects and looks after me.

Go back and read the beginning of the chapter. Paul is talking about building up the church. Notice verse23" So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?"
He is clearly concerned that the church in Corinth have a form of orderly worship that edifies. The leaders of the church were men. Ask yourself what effect it would have had for a new leader to be questioned by his own wife in public. The culture of that time was very much centered around the males. Christian women were given much MORE freedom, but if they used it in a way which was not beneficial to the church, that was wrong.
Women were given very honored roles in the bible. First to see the risen Christ for example.

First of all,you are reading passages in the old testament and new testament, trying to use them and twist them to make things sound how they are not intended to be understood. It also says women be submissive to your husbands just as you men shall be submissive to your wives.....as for women speaking in church that means preachers are supposed to be men not women, not that we can't talk in church!!You are misunderstanding a lot of things,or are just looking for a reason to disagree or go against what the bible is actually meaning.Different publishing's of the bible state different things also. The new testament, international version, good news bible all have add-ons in a lot of bible verses, the true version is the king James version,I got a kids or teen version when I first decided to read the bible so I wouldn't misunderstand anything. It puts the bible in today's English. So I could easily get what the bible was meaning.

God is not sexist. You are referring to a book which is not meant for you and not for your time. The bible was meant for the children of Israel and for their time. Obviously if you refer to it now, it will be irrelevant. Its like you are owning a windows 7 PC and referring to a windows 98 guide to operate windows 7. Whose fault is it? If you really want to know the laws which apply now, read the Qur'an and do this yourself. Do not refer to others who hate Islam because obviously they will misguide you. Of all the people accepting Islam, 2/3 are women, so you can get an idea from this.

I think God made woman to be the help mate, I think He truly loved woman, after all He tells man to love her like Christ loved the church and gave His life for it. He tells man to love woman as he loved his own body, and He allowed woman to continue the creation of giving life. Without the woman the human world would be extinct, without the man to impregnant the woman the world would be extinct. As far as the submission goes, Christ was submissive to the church, He loved it, and He was submissive to it. Woman wasn't made from dust as Adam was but God took a rib from Adam and created woman to be beside him , not behind him. Lots of women in the Bible have found favor in God's eyes, and I think woman are more inquisitive than man so God didn't want man to be humiliated by having the woman asking them questions, to which they probably didn't have the answer.

I'm certain that your ideas would come as quite a surprise to the great women of the Bible. Rachael, Ruth, Esther, and Mary come to mind right off the top of my head. Jesus held Mary Magdalene in higher esteem than ANY of his male apostles. That's why He showed Himself to her first after the Resurrection. Even Paul, whom so many lambast for sexism, was very progressive FOR HIS TIME. God has chosen to work in the context of man.

Jesus was a liberal.
Who is to say Jesus totally agreed with all of this!
Jesus accepted Mary Magdeline as she was. He accepted her ointments and comfort.
He also accepted counsil from her and his mother.
Jesus never told either of them to be silent!

The Bible does say, "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord," but it also instructs, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it" (Ephesians 5:22,25). A man who under-stands that Jesus Christ sacrificed His life’s blood for the Church will likewise love his wife sacrificially and passionately. He will honor her, respect her, protect, love, and cherish her as much as he does his own body, as he is instructed to do (Ephesians 5:28). He will never say or do anything to harm or demean her. It is in this atmosphere of love and security that a godly wife willingly submits herself to the protective arms of her husband. She does this not because he is better than she is, but simply because this is God’s order for His creation.
A godless world rejects the God-given formula to make marriage work. It thinks it knows best, and suffers the heartbreaking consequences of destroyed marriages and ruined lives. The Christian ideal of marriage is not one of an authoritarian and chauvinistic male holding his cringing wife in submission like an obedient dog. It’s the very opposite. While most of the great religions treat women as inferior to men, the Bible gives them a place of dignity, honor, and unspeakable worth, expressed so evidently in Proverbs 31.
You need to learn the difference between historical text and when God gives us commands to follow. Your lack of knowledge in the bible is evident in your basis of your question and reasoning. Your question is more rhetorical since you have obviously formed your own opinions of what it is the bible actually teaches, but you are grossly incorrect and your statements are very inaccurate.
During the Old Testament, the whole world was a patriarchal society. That status of history is very clear - not only in Scripture but in the social mores that governed most societies in the world. By modern value systems and worldly human viewpoint, that is called sexist. God ordained the order in society, not man, and He is the author of the establishment principles of authority. However, like everything else, the fall man has corrupted this order and that has resulted in the inequality of the standing of men and women throughout history. The exclusion and the discrimination that we find in our world is not new and is the result of the fall of man and the introduction of sin - which is rebellion against God. Therefore, we can rightly say that the term and the practice of sexism is a result of - a product of - the sin of mankind. The progressive revelation of the Bible leads us to the cure for sexism and indeed all of the sinful practices of the human race.
To find and maintain a spiritual balance between the God-ordained positions of authority, we must look to Scripture. The New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old, and in it we find principles that tell us the correct line of authority and the cure for sin, the ill of all mankind, and that includes discrimination based upon gender.
The Cross of Christ is the great equalizer. John 3:16 says, "Whosoever will" and that is an all-inclusive statement that leaves no one out on the basis of position in society, mental capacity or gender. We also find a passage in Galatians that tells us of our equal opportunity for salvation. "26 For we are all the children of God by faith in Jesus Christ. 27 for as many of you as have been baptized (identified) into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male or female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:26-28). There is no sexism at the foot of the Cross.
The Bible is not sexist. Why? Because it accurately portrays the results of sin and does not "guild the lily." The Bible records all kinds of sin: slavery and bondage and the failures of its greatest heroes; yet it also gives us the answer and the cure for those sins against God and His established order. That answer? It is a right relationship with God. The Old Testament was looking forward to the supreme sacrifice, and each time a sacrifice for sin was made, it was teaching the need for reconciliation to God. In the New Testament, the "Lamb that takes away the sin of the world" was born, died, buried and rose again and then ascended to His place in Heaven, and there He intercedes for us. It is through belief in Him that the cure for sin is found and that includes the sin of sexism.
The charge of the sexism of the Bible is based upon a lack of knowledge of Scripture. When men and women of all ages have taken their God-ordained places and lived according to "Thus says the LORD," then there is a wonderful balance between the genders, and that balance is what God began with, and it is what He will end with. There is an inordinate amount of attention paid to the various products of sin and not to the root of it. It is only when there is personal reconciliation with God through the LORD Jesus Christ that we find true equality. "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).
