poverty can never be banished by giving hand outs. Hand ups will be the only way. you being a businessperson, you are in a postition to help give them that hand up. You can assist in training them in the education and skills they need to succed in business or other professions.

Find ways to give benefits to your employees. Can you hold training sessions so they can move up the business ladder? Scholarships if they want to back to school? Child care so they can work more hours?
There is a tent city of homeless people downtown from me who all have full time jobs. They just don't make enough to pay bills. They buy groceries so they don't ask for handouts, they just can't affort rent. Take care of your employees and they will take care of you.

I agree with your first poster. Give your employees a living wage and decent benefits. Make profits, but don't let profit override your sense of civility.
