I was with this buhddist girl that love me and i love her for like 4 years. Then I told her what I thought about her religion because she made me, (I'm Catholic) and she dumped me.

It was really sad that we REALLY loved each other but allowed religion to get in the way.

yea man, don't let stupid **** like religion get in the way.
i mean religion is important, but religion should only be used to be helpful
the point of religion is for people to find "the way"
if religion is gettin in the way of ur love life then it is definitely not helping you follow "the way" so forget about your religious differences

by the way if u insulted her religion you should probly say srry

Usually, I wouldn't call it getting "dumped" so much as never really starting up. It tends to be closer to after 2 days, not after 4 years. Christians do it all the time. They get interested, ask people out, and, after a dinner or two, they get around to asking about the other person's religion and then have to break it off.

This is the first time I've heard of a Buddhist doing it, though, but since you're Catholic, I would guess that your answer probably came off as being disrespectful. It might not be because she "let religion get in the way". It could be that your answer indicated that you've never had any intention of respecting her beliefs.

Well if you were planning on getting serious and even having a family it would make things really difficult. How would you raise your children, Catholic or Buddhist?? I don't understand how in four years, you never talked about your religion. Although it is the most important part, there's more to making a relationship work than just being in love. "Love is only half the battle."

Religion can have its obstacles in the long run. I wanted to marry a Catholic woman, but I was divorced from another Catholic woman. I would have to go through a huge annulment proceeding to marry her that would be worse than my actual divorce. I'm not Catholic, I was really pissed and the church had so many restrictions for me to practice because I am divorced and non Catholic.

Tough question...

No I haven't, I'm Catholic and my wife is a Lutheran, we were married in an ecumenic ritual (involving both religions), and we have had no problems.

However, she has been rejected a few times for being Lutheran.

(We are Mexicans living in Mexico City and in this country the primary religion is Catholisism)

religion should never be a barrier. but religion is merely a way of life and if your "way of life" conflicts with the other person's i guess there's no choice. i personally think that every "religion" says just about the same thing....dunno..eh it's complicated

I dumped my ex husband because of religion. It meant more to him than I did...and we were both Christians.

I have been on both sides of these issue . . . neither is easy or fun. In the long run, it was for the best although it hurt at the time.

Her Religion was obviously her life. Nam yo ho, Renge kyo.
Chant for her and wish her peace. ..I love the Gregorian Chant. Another love will find your heart. You are not dumped, you are free now......
