Sorry bottles, soda, wine and beer. But I live alone so no one complains. Also some fondue pots that were gifts that I never use.

My cabinets go up to the ceiling where I am now - where I used to be there was only a few inches so I stored flat things up there like seasonal placemats and things - you couldn't see them.

My mom has a lot of space between her ceiling and cabinets, and she has things on display like scenic serving platters, collectible tins, and china tea sets. Even though she repaints the kitchen every few years it still looks nice.

I have seen in models they put christmas lights up, the small ones, not on twinkle. I saw this in a home and garden type mag also. It seems to be really stylish. The just drape them, not far down though. It does look nice for lighting effects and can change the whole appearance to a room.

I have some tuscany urns and and pitchers a wooden rooster. I have seen people keep their collectionds up there. Birdhouses, cookie jars, fiesta ware. All one colored glassware would look cool. Really the sky is the limit.
I think dried flowers look great on top of a pot rack. I have seen them hanging...looked great.

How about different colored and shaped glass bottles? You can find them at thrift stores usually. Fill glass jars with sea glass or seashells. Teapots? Baskets? I'm still thinking about that pot rack!

Rope lights and multi-shaped/multi-colored glass bottles and jars make an interesting effect. For the pot rack, you can get hanging wire backets and tier them for different types of fruit/veggies.

You know those collectible plates? My mom puts those blue Holland plates above here cabinets. You can get plates like that in all colors. The only down fall is that you have to periodically dust whatever you put up there.
Do you have kids? You can get a small train to run up there. :-)

It is a wonderful place for storing all those large pieces that are only used occasionally. It keeps items visible that you may forget you have if stored in back of a cabinet. They get dusty but it isn't noticeable until they are brought down for use.

I have a huge collection of salt and pepper shakers. On the top of my cabinets, I put some of my "food shakers". I have celery stick ones up there. I have coca cola bottle ones up there, I have potato ones, an ice cream sundae one, tomato shakers, ect. It looks really cute.
