I was there for 3 days a few years ago. It is a nice, quiet place, not exciting but a good place to raise a family. Contrary to another posted message, I found the people, with 1 exception, very friendly. Most speak English, at least a little and some very well. Here are some of the things I saw.

Jarudang Park - It is a nice amusement park with rides and games but no lines and almost free. Adjacent is a large park with a beautiful musical fountain show that often hosts bands and other entertainment. I went in the evening when it was relatively cool.

The royal regalia museum. I am not sure what the actual name name is but it displays gifts to the sultan, his carriages, uniforms and ceremonial attire and equipment.

Kampon Ayar river village and river tour - there are small villages built on piers over the river. This seems to be a traditional life style but not so hygenic. The government is in a slow process of moving the village upstream to newer homes with clean water and sewer systems installed. It may be more inconvenient for the villagers but much better for the cleanliness of the river.

Along the river tour you can see jungles and monkeys far upstream, a view of the palace downstream and many houses, schools and mosques in between.

There are some traditional markets were one can buy food, modern and traditional kitchen utensils, souvenirs and novelties.

The Saifuddien Mosque - This is a beautiful and very impressive building from the outside, especially with the barge in the foreground and night illumination. Visiting hours are posted but even conservatively dressed, during visiting hours, with shoes removed, I was chased out by a man angered by my presence. During my 2 minutes inside it appeared that there was not much to see inside.

The sultan is popular and well thought of by the people but mention of his brother, Jeffrey, gets rolled eyes, shakes of the head and wry grins. It was a short visit but well worth while.
