Knowledge seeker,

You seem to have answered the question. Jesus was crucified because he professed to be the Son of God. This was too much for the religious leaders to accept but it was necessary to free man from spiritual slavery (sin). Sins against the God of Abraham cannot be redeemed by man by doing good. Sin is like a stain upon our soul that cannot be removed by human means. Only Allah can remove the stain as it says in the Book of Revelation. May Allah, the God of mercy and justice bless you and your family. May your search for knowledge bring the truth, freedom, and wisdom.

Jesus is the son of GOD

Matthew 1:1 refers to his lineage as he was to come from the line of David.

Luke 3:23 refers to His legal father, Joseph, the husband of his mother.

Son of David ... this is the family tree from which Jesus came from. He is not literally David's son. But David is the one that started Jesus' HUMAN family. If you're great great great great grandfather (or whoever began your family)'s name is Edward, then you'd be the Daughter of Edward. Bad example I know.

Son of Joseph ... he isn't really the son of Joseph, since Mary was pregnant from holy spirit. He is more like his "step" father.

His true father is the one in Heaven, God, who sent Jesus to this earth. John 3:16

...I think "son" has been used in a symbolic way when Jesus is described as the son of David. He's the adoptive son of Joseph. He's the "biological" (if that makes any sense at all) son of God. So... in the sense that he was born of God but raised by Joseph, I guess he DOES have 2 fathers.

Correction: yes, that's right, he is supposedly of the lineage of David. That's why he's called "son" of David. Gotcha.

There were several hundred years between Jesus and David. What it means when it says He was the son of David is that He was in David lineage.

Joseph also wasn't the father of Jesus, that's what the (as was supposed) meant.

David was an ancestor of Jesus. God is Jesus' Father and Joseph was Jesus' earthly Dad.

I think you may be misreading matt 1:1... they are announcing the geaneology of Jesus Christ then they start way back with David, and Abraham.. and so on all the way down to verse 16... then they talk about how he was born ...
