Some people over react, without thinking. I've actually been bashed for watching the Wizard of Oz with my grandkids, because (horror of horrors), there is a GOOD WITCH in it! I've had a preacher tell me that I shouldn't watch Disney movies with the kids, because Disneyland had some sort of gay day...as if my kids could catch some sort of gay virus from the movies.
It really amazes me that these same people who have so much to say about these book of FICTION heartily endorse such fantasies as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy...not that I have anything against any of them, either (if Santa is watching, I want him to know I'm being very NICE!! LOL).
People like this give Christians a bad name, and that is very sad. Just ignore them, use your own good sense, and when in doubt, talk it over with Jesus.
Remember what happens when you follow a blind leader.....

Even Christian leaders are beginning to come around and admit that Harry Potter has positive themes and isn't just about witchcraft. I'll bet your friends are simply repeating prejudices and that not a one of them has read a word of Harry Potter. How would they know what Harry Potter was about if they have not read it? They see the surface and react in a knee jerk manner. That tendency is a bad habit and one that should be overcome with much hard work; unfortunately for you, it is they who need to do the work. You can't change their minds for them.
Cheers!

Because these books deal with magic, wizards, etc. I personally love the Harry Potter series. I am a Christian, I've read all the books and seen all the movies. I don't think that it is a more or less magical, etc. than the The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, which has the witches, magic, etc., and was written by a Christian author.

Cause it's about magic and witch's and stuff. . Just because you read them doesn't mean you are a sinner. I'm a christian and I read them but I know it's just silly make believe. There is no such thing. Some people think differently about the books.

It teaches and talk about black magic, spells, witches, warlocks..etc. If we testify to be Christians for the Lord, we should not even think about watching, reading, buying anything dealing with witchcraft. We must keep our minds and temples free and clean of satanic messages. It should tell you something about if the former vampire writer Anne Rice recently repented and published a book about Jesus Christ!!

Your friends obviously don't know fiction and non-fiction books. They are not real. It is just a story. They need to get a real life. You are fine if you read the books. Have you tried to get a wand and do the spells. My little boys have and guess what? They don't really work! Why? Because it is just a story.

They were convinced by their elders that it's satanic, the elders are worried that it might make kids want to try witchcraft. I heard from older people the same thing happened when the Wizard of oz first came out, the zealous religious people boycotted it and I have an older friend who's mother wouldn't let him watch it.

They're probably super religious and observe too closely the so-called "Satanic messages" that people have discovered by overanalyzing the small details in the books that J.K. Rowling probably did not intend to convey. As for me, I love those books.

Read whatever you want. Harry Potter will not lead you into Satan worship or anything. It is just a great story made up by a great writer.
