"Take care" I'm telling you this as we depart because you would probably be careless if I didn't. Do I really need someone to tell me to take care when we depart?

i don't think it means a whole lot these days. i mean, when i say goodbye to a friend by saying "take care", it really means "i hope i see you again so be sure you don't do anything drastically crazy that puts your life in danger". when my darling grandma (bless her heart) tells me to take care, she says "take care of yourself" and it reminds me to try and not do anything stupid that would disappoint her. so in a way, it reminds me to be more careful in making decisions, but when you say it casually to friends or acquaintances, i doubt they take you seriously. just a saying to be polite. nothing more.

It's kind of like greeting someone with "How you doin'?" when most people don't really care and parting with "Have a nice day" as if you hadn't thought about having one anyway.

You know the ones who truly care and the ones who don't and you should take it for what it is.

It's something people say to be nice, such as "Have A Nice Day!"

What does 'Good Bye" mean? Is it really any different? When someone asks "How are you", do you ask why they want to know?
