It depends on the guy. Usually it takes them a while to learn how to deal with it properly, and some of them never learn how to do it. Basically, they have to learn that not every girl will like them and that their liking a girl will not make her like them. They also have to learn that rejection is not something to be taken personally. Another thing they have to learn is not to try too hard. Hollywood is obsessed with making movies about guys trying very hard to win women over by telling them how much they like them. That hardly ever works in real life, but thanks to these movies it is becoming a common approach. Most girls will think the poor guy is desperate and will not want anything to do with him if he tells her how he feels. Sad, but true. He'll learn, eventually. Just curious: Is this your child you're talking about, or is it a guy that likes you?

No matter what age you are, it depends on how long you were together. A short thing is unlikely to be very important to anyone. A very long one is likely to be more important regardless of age.
When I was 14 there was a girl I really liked, she was the first girl I really made any sort of move on. After maybe a month while she just stopped calling. It made me sad, but I was basically over it in a couple weeks, and I was a pretty sensitive boy. By contrast, a friend of mine had gone out with the same girl for over a year before they broke up, and they had a comparatively hard time.
As I remember, 14 year old boys take rejections harder and breakups not as hard as grown men do. And I believe girls of about that age tend to think it is more serious than the boy thinks.

Everyone deals with love and rejection in there own way. No matter how old you are. You just have to find things that work for you. Don't keep your mind on the rejection do things that take your mind off of it. It will take some time but it will work.

14 year old boys don't know what love is, so there for rejection may hurt a lot at first but is easy to get over in a week or 2 w/o much physiological damage

first of all i doubt that 14 year olds like me dun really know what love is, but yes they actually do kare, i have been rejected and i experience emotional pains for days to weeks, only really bad people or selfish ones just get over it in 1-2 days.

14years old ...well, do they really know what is love in the first place? or just friends having girlfriends and they also want to have one? 14 years old... well...mature to understand what is love? rejection? who cares..perhaps just find another new target who accept them.

i think all 14 year old boy thinks about when he is with a girl is when he will get to see her naked. they dont know or have the experience to understand emotional attachment to a girlfriend. unless they are kevin arnold from the wonder years and inlove with winnie
