If the eyes have turned purple he/she has an eye infection and can be quite painful for the dog. The eyesight will not return and most likely the dog will need to have the eyes removed. Dogs can get around reasonably well without sight. This is only 1 reason that a dog can go suddenly blind. Check with your vet!

he could have had his eyes sprayed by some chemical. even a skunk spray can do it. or it could be old age.
