It depends on how intense the romance was and if she feels blindsided by being broken up with. But, if you have a solid friendship, there's a good chance of getting it back. However, you need to be totally honest and upfront with her about why you're breaking up. You also need to give her a chance to express HER feelings and let her have some space if she's angry at you.

Finally, if you're finding it difficult to be in each other's physical vicinity, then it can be helpful to not see each other for a while. Just make sure that you both talk about it beforehand so one person doesn't feel like the other one's mad at them.

Good luck. I'm still friends with the last two women I broke up with, so it's not impossible.

It's going to be hard to have a friendship if there is still feelings or attraction on either side. If this is true, I suggest taking a break from each other (no contact at all) then try to rebuild the friendship. Otherwise, it will just be confusing and frustrating.

Exactly HOW do you do this because I'd like to know also. I think my ex-boyfriend and I were better off as a couple, even though we were really good friends before. Now that we're back to this friends thing...it's really...oh what's the word...awkward...because we can't touch each other like we used to, but we still want to be around each other. So maybe you should hang out like you did before, as in not going on actual dates, but going out with a group to make it easier. IDK.
