I am using a satilite connection and downloading songs/videos on LimeWire. For some reason the downloads are going SUPER slow. Does anyone know of anyway to increase the download time? Do I need to configure something a certain way under options? If someone could give me simple step-by-step instructions it would be great. Thanks!

The speed doesnt only depend on your connection but the person who you are downloading it from. Say if I had dial up and you have sattelite the speed will only go as fast as the dial up person can send it to you. If your speed is 200 kb/s and dial up speed is going at 4 kb/s, the speed won't be able to exceed that. You can also try donwloading from more than 1 user at a time and you can do another thing. On Limewire.com they sell limewire pro, you can go to the regular limewire and in the search type in limewire pro and there you have it, you can get it for free. Limewires softwares cheats on many artists and stuff and now you can cheat on them.

This is due to a small thing called the fair access policy. Satellite companies include a small clause saying you can only download X mb before they throtlle your speeds back to 56k. Direcyway from hughesnet is about 200mb per hour then they start throttling. So don't play on downloading large movies. You can download large movies if you set the maximum kb/s in limewire to something lower like 15-20 kb/s.
If interested why they have the FAP it is because the geostationary satellites service large areas if given unlimited bandwidth you would start cutting into other peoples speed. This is why cable and DSL companies don't have similar policies.
This is coming from someone who is a satellite user.

well thats what it does it doesnt go that fast get ares its better for your computer the downloads are faster and better limewire is slowi use ares because you can download as much music as you need and you can put it on your ipod.mp3 and also burn cd's but dont use bearshare but if you get limewire sometimes the downloads wont work but ares always works so heres that instructions on getting ares
first downlaod ares for www.aresgalaxy.sorceforge.net then it says download ares then click on that then thiz weird lookin screen pops up go down and 1 will say easynews the by it it will say phoenix arizona the next it will say download then click on that

peer to peer programs rely on the provider of the download to be honest with there connection.If they are slow you willbe slow also.
Lime wire is very slow try tucows.com
