Call the cops and ask what the noise ordinances are for your area.......if they are breaking the law send the cops over there.

Another option is to find out who they rent from and send them a letter about it.

While I realize you are in a tough spot, this is a tricky situation. First of all you need to realize that they are learning a craft, a hobby, a musical instrument. As with Saxophone, Trumpet, Opera singing, etc. you have to practice to be good. I am sure you listen to the radio and have CD's of your favourite artists, they all had to start at the same point your neighbors did. Try to practice some patience and understanding with regards to a quiet hobby of quilting vs. music. On the other hand, to be fair, they should also respect your domain. Police won't do anything until after 10:00pm, unless you can prove that the decibal level is higher than what the city allows. Your best bet is to try an talk with them and come to an agreement as to what is acceptable for both parties. If it only benefits you, they won't go for it, and if it only benefits them, obviously you are in the same position as when you started this question. If they know that you will be calling the cops on them whenever possible and giving them trouble, they will probably be more likely to cooperate with you if you sit down and decide on a reasonable arrangement. Something else you could do would be to save your egg cartons for them so they could 'insulate' their band room, which would cut down on the loudness. But, I am sure this will not be a clear-cut answer for you, it depends on your relationship with them now, and what compromises you are willing to accept. Good luck!

try talking to your neighbor first. if they keep up with playing the drums, after you talked with them,i would call the police. people are just so inconsiderate ,there is no reason ,for all that noise . good luck i hope your neighbor will stop banging the drums.

Tell them that Osma Bin Laden wants to meet with them and will be sending some of his guys to see them as he's heard the drumming from Afghanistan and it's making him mad - or madder than a rat with rabies whose just left half his tail in a rat trap.

In my neighborhood the police won't do anything about it until after 10 PM. You could try talking with them, they may not realize it's that loud,

If you're in New York, call 311. That's noise polution. They will refer it to the nearest precinct and the cops will go to their house. It's confidential, they won't know who called.
