Honey, you need to see a doctor. You dint say how much exercise makes you go out of breath. You need to have your blood pressure and your heart checked first of all. Can you walk at a slow to medium pace 5 minutes twice a day without going out of breath? If you start slowly you can go to 10 minutes 3 times a day.
If you add-up these 3 little 10 minutes walks you will burn 3x10
minutes worth of calories ( 30 minutes)
The amount of calories you burn depends on the weight you carry around (your body weight) and the pace you walk at.

Since you seem to be very unfit for now, start slowly.
you can even do 3 minutes 3x a day to start.

You dont need to go on a strict diet to loose weight, but you do have to change your eating habits. Cut out junk food.
You said you dont have any will power, try this (but you have to be determined) if you cant resist having junk food, lets say once or twice a week, try to eat an apple plus a glass of vegetable juice before you have those chips, You may eat less chips. But you definitely cant have junk food everyday, no every other day either. If sweets are your problem, same rule
have a banana and a chocolate milk instead. The amount of calories in both cases will be high, but you will very probably eatless junk (empty calories) . You have to think healthy.
Cut out a bit of fat, try veggie burgurs with tomatoes and lettuce, dill pickle . Low fat pop-corn with orange juice is a fairly nutritious snack compared to chips and coke.
Have 3 meals a day, 3 servings of your favourite vegetables
with each meals, have at least 5 serving of grains a day (1/2 cup of pasta is one serving) (1 slice of whole grain bread= 2/3 cups of whole grain cereal) (2/3 cups of brown rice is also=1 portion) Do have low fat milk or yogurt 3x a day. Try eating fish its good for you.
But please, if your doctor says its ok, do these 10 minutes 3x a day walks, gradualluy you can do 15 to 20 minutes 3x a day.
Listen to your favourite music when you walk. You will feel better everyday. Give yourself little goals at first. Dont forget to start slowly.
Good luck sweetheart.

I think your concern shows that your self is looking for a way to start, so good for you! You're on your way!

Here's what I did: I spent some serious time looking for just the right doctor. I looked on the Web and followed up to find someone I thought would be on my wavelength. That's important. And the doctor I found was in fact perfect. She explained some of the key issues and told me to follow her instructions. A year later: I lost 50 pounds and feel like a different person. You can do it!

I would also recommend reading this book: "You: The Owner's Manual. An Insider's Guide that will make you healthier and younger" (see Amazon link below). It will motivate you and give you a real understanding of your body. It's funny, too!

And just keep plugging at the diet and exercise, even if you only do a little more every day. You'll see gradual results that will last. Good luck!

First you need to change your mindset. You CAN exercise. It may not be comfortable but you CAN do it. If you are truly worried about your health then you know what you must do.

Tomorrow when you wake up, get up and walk around for 1 minute without stopping. Nothing fast, nothing hard, just walk.

The next day, go 2 minutes.

The next day, go back to 1 minute.

The next day, go 3... and so forth...

If you follow this pattern and increase gradually, you will eventually see results. You will lose weight and it's at a slow enough pace that your body will adapt the more you do it. Just a few minutes a day is all you really need to get started. You just need to realize that it's in you.

Don't feel alone. I am overweight as well and have faced the same ridicule all of my life. I am on Weight Watchers right now and it is working for me. I could be a little more strict with myself and exercise but like you I get out of breath. It is very hard to exercise when you have been sedentary for so long. I would suggest losing at least 20 pounds and then try some low impact aerobics and maybe yoga. Ease into it at first. I hate to exercise because I hate to get sweaty, sounds dumb huh? It is a hard road but I think unless I want to die young I have to do something. Good luck to you and God bless.

"excercising" is REALLY boring for me. why don't u do something that doesnt feel like exercising. I dont know where you live but instead of driving everywhere why don't you walk?
or if you're at the mall, take the steps a few times instead of the elevator.

it's actually more attitude that you have to fix, then the physical follows. know(because you are) that you are worth it and there's no need to live the way you don't want to. don't limit yourself.love yourself:)
then do active things that are fun for you. like today, i shopped for 4 hours straight and walked over 30 blocks without even knowing it because i was more immersed in the shopping part lol

You need to see your doctor, first to make sure there are no medical reasons causing you to be overweight. See a nutritionist and/or a personal trainer.. a professional will be the only one to be able to monitor you correctly. I know they can be expensive, but see what your insurance covers - even if it does end up being quite a bit of money, don't you think it's more important to spend the money now rather then having to spend it on future medical bills for new medical problems from being overweight? Plus doing this NOW can help prevent you from those possible medical problems - if you don't already have them. Obviously your health is very important to you since you say you're worried about it, and if that alone can't encourage you, I don't know what will. Maybe you need to do some soul searching, what is more important... working hard to get to a healthy state, or resisting it... you're the only one who can help you... someone might be able to motivate you, but you're the only one who can make yourself stay motivated. Finding motivation within yourself can be hard, but if you really care about yourself and if loosing the weight is really important to you - they you CAN find it. You might even want to concider seeing a counselor/therapist... if you're an over-eater due to stress or maybe even something you really haven't thought about (or don't want to think about) - they will be able to help you find emotional reasoning behind your weight, and that can one maybe help with motivation, two help with understanding and three be able to help you in the long run to avoid whatever there might be going on emotionally for the future. Good luck to you!

I think this would be good for you. Have your doctor send you to a Dietitian to work with you in loosing weight.
You will be delighted how well it will work having someone on your side giving you support while loosing weight.
Perhaps exercise is not right for you currently. Have your doctor tell you, after loosing X amount of pounds, what exercise is best for you according to your health level. I wish you the best, keep a positive attitude and you will go far. Smile now..this is your motivation. .

You don't have to go see a damn doctor- COME ON PEOPLE.

Doctors can't tell you everyting- some things you have to decide for yourself.

1.) Stop eating anything that's "REGULAR" instead try for low fat.
Especially like...mayonaise.
Stop eating sugar...- switch to Splenda- you wont' notice the difference.
Drink water, stop drinking cokes (Diet cokes are okay...) no sports drinks either...they kill slow metabolisms

2.) Given your height and weight (because I'm 5'2" and once was 220 lbs, now 160...) I'll bet walking a long distance hurts your ankles to no end (Short legs...)
Try and elyptical cycle...
Something cheap- even a gazelle...it's so low impact that you can start off slow without hurting yourself.
... I'd like to talk to you more on this to get you motivated (because I can't seem to get the heck off my *** to do anything either haha....)

3.) Switch to Lean Pockets hehe- I lost like 10 pounds alone on lean pockets...

4.) Crunches to sit ups- and PILATES....see- even if it's not as rigorous of an exercise- pilates is damn good...it will start shaping you up and help and you won't be THAT out of breath- just do what you can.

Don't start out with running (As I guarantee you'll get jazzed up to go running and then completely stop, lose hope, and go eat something to calm you down) and running will hurt your knees at this state- you're not that big...

But any exercise routine you do...an hour a day- sounds like a lot...but just go for a bike ride or something...

An hour a day at least- or two thirty minute sessions, three 20 minute sessions- the sky's the limit...just try for an hour, every day. Tell yourself...welp..I'm gonna get up and go do this now- bye people...

Seclude yourself...

And listen to some MUSIC girl...Music will get you so energized...

haha I'll bet anything you like to dance :P

my e-mail is terrormt@hotmail.com...

If you found any of this helpful and want to hear more of good things to do go ahead and e-mail me- or add me to Yahoo...whatever...lol

Chels.

I can advise you on a 5 things since I struggle with my weight as well:
1) Realize that we are all made differently and have different metabolisms;
2) Find out why you eat."Emotional Eating" - eating based on feelings of stress or sorrow can cause us to gain weight b/c it's a way for punishing ourselves for our hardships.
3) Willpower in my opinion is based on readiness. Have you ever been on a diet and successfully lost weight? If Yes, then maybe you're not completely ready to commit to changing your eating habits and take steps to eat less fattening foods. Willpower is when you put aside your fears and commit to a longterm goal.
4) What you eat- I feel what you eat is as important as how much you eat it.
Do you eat enough fruits & vegetables in a day?
Do you balance your carbohydrates ( bread), protein (chicken) and fat (cheese, butter)?
Sometimes we eat more than we realize.
5) Health condition - It could even be a condition I believe in the thyroid that causes you to gain weight. Maybe you can ask you doctor to check your thyroid levels. This causes to hold the fat in your system instead of burning it.

We all make choices in life. The question is, how bad do you want it? If the answer is "bad enough", then you are going to have to make a commitment to yourself to do it. No one else can do it for you. Start with small steps to acheive a healthier lifestyle- start eating breakfast. Cut out sugar. Don't eat junk. Drink water instead of sodas or other sugary drinks. Take short walks, then expand your distance. Make sure you praise yourself when you've even taken one small step to change. Many people have done it, and YOU can, too!
