Just got a new Dell, but want Microsoft Word on it. I have it on two other computers, but can't find the Microsoft disk. If I take it to a computer shop, can they transfer it, or is the disk a necessity. I can find every other disk that goes with Microsoft Professional, like the media disk, but not the Word one. Just my luck!

If this was a legitimate purchase, and you have the serial number of the other CD, MS might (underline might) let you download, or, they might send the program on CD. You can ask. The worst they can say is no. I know of no way to install without a CD or download.

If you have a cd burner on a pc that has word on it, just burn the folder to a cd and transfer it to your new pc... if you can do that, and you dont have the serial#, theres a program called belarc advisor that will give you the serial # for the word installed on your pc and every other program on it. even your os activation key. the link is at the bottom. this is the easiest way without having to purchase another copy. Good Luck!
