LOL OMG NOW you really sound like my husband!!! He has a FIT when commercials come on! HE flips to OTHER channels. I normally turn the volume down or mute it. Especially the annoying commercials.

I'm a guy, and I don't use the mute button because I think muting the sound is completely pointless unless you're talking to someone. If I don't want to watch the commercials I'll just go do something while they're on. I just don't see the point in muting the sound and watching them without sound. It just makes it even more boring for me. I really don't think that this has anything to do with a difference between men and woman. Rather, some people are more patient then other people when it comes to commercials.

Because they're trying to manipulate you into getting a DVR, silly. The longer you hold out, the more painful it will be for you. Stop resisting, and order a TiVo. You'll never understand how you were able to watch TV before, once you start using it. You skip past all the commercials, watch shows in 2/3 the time it takes everyone else, pause to use the restroom or get more snacks any time you want. You'll never go back to live TV again.
She's just trying to do what's best for you. Stop resisting, put down the mute button, and order a TiVo. You'll thank her for it after the first week of using it.

I don't use the mute button and I like commercials. But, my man "controls" the remote when we watch TV together. He flips channels when the commercials are on and how can you see if there is an interesting show on while you're flipping channels??? That's something I can't understand about you men. You "flip" constantly! That's why it's a good thing we have 4 TVs in the house! I just get up and leave the room and watch TV in another room! Problem solved.

what kind of question is it? of course women are capable of doing it, they just don't feel like doing it, because it is not worth it, If they press the mute button there is gonna be silence in the room, or they will have to listen to their husband, which maybe they don't want to do, or maybe it doesn't make sence to mute the sound for a few seconds and keep staring at the tv (you are gonna be seeing the picture anyway) and then turn the sound back on, or maybe they use the commercial break to get get a snack or check on their baby OKK?? WHY ARE MEN TOTALLY INCAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING SIMPLE THINGS?

Well, they know how to press the button, just most chose not to. Sometimes (especially during sports) the commercials can be better then the actual show. Plus, your wife probably knows how much it buggs you and is finding it amusing to tease you. Also, guys are always complaing about girls not being able to stop talking, if the commercials are on, it gives you an excuse not to have to talk and less reason to complain. This is coming from a grl who always watches the commercials

I have used the mute button for years during commercials. I can't stand car commercials they are the worst. My boyfriend thinks it is stupid to do this so I try to hold the remote as much as possible.

at all hitting that "mute" button on those loud, obnoxious,
annoying commercials!

Get a DVR (like a TiVo) that allows fast-forwarding through commercials, and don't start watching a TV show until several minutes after it starts. That way, you never watch or listen to a commercial ever again.
Even before DVRs existed, I would always record programs onto VHS and watch them later so that I can fast-forward commercials.
