He's afraid of rejection! Scared to admit he likes you to them in case you shoot him down later. Hint to him you are single. Something that worked for me in same situation was I told the guy how I had weirdo's asking me out all the time (true) and how I was not interested in anyone that did not already know me, could talk with, etc. He asked me out within a few days.

Been there. Just move on, never give a guy like that the time of day. You have better things to do with your life than wondering what a guy is thinking when he keeps changing his mind.

Shy Guy is what he is .But there is also a chance of misinterpretation in the signs he gives . you can be sure in one of those above good luck.

he's probably not sure if you like him or not and has a fear of rejection. of course if he tells your friends, they'll tell you, so he doesn't want them to know.
