umm...there are just some places that hair doesn't grow in...like your palm...the inner side of your arm...your lips..it's just that there isn't any hair folliciles (or wutever they call them)there

I'm assuming that you mean, "Why doesn't that thick, stubbly hair that's in my armpits grow behind my knee as well?"

Behind your knee amounts to the bend of your elbows. People don't usually have the thick stuff growing in the bend of their elbows, or behind the knee. The short and curlies grow the thickest at the places where your appendages (arms & legs) connect to your torso. There's two main reasons they are there at all; one is to reduce friction where your body is rubbing against itself, and two is to help your pheromones spread out so that other people can smell them. That was their original purpose, anyway. Nowadays, people shave or wax, and use deodorant and cologne or perfume, so it doesn't really matter.

I think that it's because of the high friction there. Some men don't grow hair on their calves because their pants rub against them, and if you wear high socks chances are hair doesn't grow under them either. That's why some people have hair under their knees and others don't. Exciting, isn't it?
