Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to mcDonalds makes you a hamburger. If you want to be a real Christian, you need to give your heart to God, turn from your sin (repent) and choose to serve Him with your life. Mixing religions getting married has nothing to do with heaven or hell. How you each choose to live... for God, or for your self, will determine your eternal result. I suggest you go see the Methodist pastor and ask him or her about giving your heart to the Lord. It will make for a better more lasting marriage.

I don't think marrying a catholic is the only road to hell. But from the catholic side you can't get married unless you become a catholic. The church does not regonise weddings outside the church. So unless you have a catholic wedding the catholics don't accept your marrage.
You guys need to talk one thing through. If you have children and change your mind and want to take them to church. (That does happen) What faith will you raise your children.
Good luck, live happily ever after.

According to whom? Are you asking Christians? If so, which brand? Are you asking Catholics? Methodists? Latter Day Saints?
I'm sure each kind of Christian will have a different kind of answer for you.
As for what I've been told, if you're a good person and lead a decent life, heaven will open it's doors for you. Of course, that's just the opinion of my mother (and I'm guessing she told me this because she doesn't want to see her atheist daughter go to hell).
There are those who believe if you don't go to church religiously (pardon the pun) every Sunday and make sure that everything you do in life glorifies god, you're guaranteed a seat in the firey pit.
It's really up to you to decide. There's no absolute Right answer with a capital R. Just be good people and worship in a way that's appropriate for you.

I don't understand what marriage has to do with the question of going to hell or not.
The reason people go to hell is because they don't serve Jesus Christ. If you are just living your life as a "good person" and not living your life according to Jesus' teachings, then you are not getting into heaven.
The bible is there for a reason. It's not meant to be displayed as an ornament on your bookshelf. The words inside lead people to everlasting life. If you get familiar with what it teaches, then you can begin to serve God.
I suggest you talk to a Christian pastor, not Catholic priest or Methodist about this subject.
Find a non-denominational church and see what they have to say.

All church homes are surprisingly a lot an identical once you get superb suited all the way down to it. i'm Catholic, and that i admire the Catholic church by using history and its historical roots. it rather is totally distinctive from a provider in a Methodist church, so once you are the form of guy or woman who can journey the divine in artwork, song, ceremony and formality, it rather is probable an outstanding determination. a lot of Protestants i know discover this type of factor to be extraneous. frequently, i admire the older church homes extra. Catholic, Coptic and Orthodox traditions are all attractive and steeped in secret. i've got been to Anglican/Episcopalian church homes till now too, and a few of them are extra like Catholic church homes than not. in order that which you recognize - in case you formally desire to alter into Catholic (or Coptic, or Orthodox, or Anglican) there is commonly a preparatory era in which you learn and learn (generally with a clergyman) with regard to the religion till now you formally are recieved into the Church. that's generally around a 12 months. besides, i'm hoping this facilitates! good luck!

A Catholic is held more responsible for not living up to their faith since more has been given to them through the teachings and graces made available through the Catholic Church, especially through the Holy Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If a Catholic neglects these then he or she will be judged more harshly than a Protestant. This is if the Catholic understands their faith.

there exists not even the remotest chance of that horrible outcome. plus, why not review the other possibilities in terms of available religions. most well educated and thoughtful people kind of, even though they know they should be more tolerant, snicker at the "beliefs" that come out of popular christian fundamentalist thinking. the words "amazingly simplistic" and "entry level" are often heard. take a look at buddhism and taoism, for example. they are much more "humanistic" and free flowing. no discussions of vengeful gods, and the like, at least not in the esoteric versions of them. and they have considerable depth and quality. plus they are certainly older than christianity. except for islam, christianity is the newest world religion on the planet, btw. having greater age in a religion seems to help to build up a certain pool of energy which benefits its followers, according to some thinkers on the subject. anyway, best of luck!

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind." (Matthew 22:37)
My advice--Don't get married until you are right with God. He should be a number one priority in your life. Your love for Him should make the love between you and your boyfriend look like hate in comparison (Luke 14:26). First commit your life to Him and then worry about marriage. Please, it would be a mistake to rush.
In response to the question itself...Catholics and Methodists are both believers, so I do not think it would be a problem (biblically) for a marriage between them.

LOL. take a trip there when you get married. It isn't as bad as people say. It is even cold in the winter. Of course you will have to find a hotel in another city because I don't think Hell, Michigan is big enough to have hotels.
