It could be a good sign that you need to get checked out by a doctor.

I've had that for years so most likely it ain't cancer. maybe hemorhoids or some intestinal problem. I have periods when those exact symptoms come and stay for a while and then they're gone until next time. I haven't yet pinpointed the problem although I do have problems with hemorhoids. Everytime I've mentioned it to a doctor they didn't think much of it. Basically if it's fresh blood, it's not as bad a sign as old (black) blood (In which case I would worry). Get it checked out, but don't freak out.
Weird how some people who don't have a clue about medicine start going apeshit over stuff like this when they see the word "blood"... I doubt that you need to go to the emergency room. And please let us know if you find out. You can always add a comment.

Don't get freaked. It is obvious that what is happening is not good, but it can be anything.

If i were you and the pain is intense i would go to a hospital right this minute. They will do an x-ray, blood, urine and stool test while your there. That way you won't have to wait for the doctor to give you the permission or request for those test, you will have them at the first visit to him/her. That is what i did when i had similar problems, it saved me time. Plus the gastroenterologist is probably pretty full of patients and will recomend you to go to the emergency ward.

Good luck!!! Hope is a false alarm.

Red blood is indicative of a bleed either just inside the rectum, or around the anus -- if it were further up inside of your body -- such as your stomach or small intestines, you would have black stool.

Regardless, go see your physician -- he/she will probably do a hemocult (which actually checks for blood in the stool) and will go from there.

In my area, there is a hospital with "Ask a Nurse" or "Nurse Hot Line". They are very knowledgeable and helpful. They will suggest if you need to go to ER tonight or see your family doctor or maybe even suggest a doctor. Good luck.

It could be lots of things, from dysentery to something imminently life-threatening. Talk to your doctor or health insurance hotline immediately. It could be something serious enough that you should go to the emergency room.

it could be anything around your stomach wall, your colon, or rectal area. (inflamed, infected or eroded) have it checked as soon as possible so they could do some testing on you. colonoscopy, gastroscopy,endoscopy...all those are ways look at your system to find out what's really going on inside you. i suggest grab your keys ASAP and see your doctor before it gets worst.
