It won't affect your health, but it'll seriously
put the hurt on the bacteria and knock out
the chlorine. Let it cool, put into a pitcher,
chill it within the fridge, and drink hearty.

I reboil my water for tea all the time and I have never had a problem. When you boil water all the stuff is boiled away and you get very clean water. This is the best way to do your water if you have not got a filter on your tap. Before I got the water machine I used to boil all my water and put it in a jug then in the frig for myself and my cats to drink. I also use it for making ice cubes as well. You should always rinse out your kettle though every time you empty it and at least once in a while boil water with a little bleach in it and then boil just water in it again before you use it for your self. This will help get rid of build up of calsium.

1. Tap water contains minerals and other salts - the type and quanitiy
depends on where you live (if you travel a lot, you may have noticed that
water tastes different in different cities). When you reboil water, you
are essentially concentrating these impurities, changing the taste of the
water itself.
2. You are right that water also contains some dissolved gasses, which are
driven off when you boil it. The concentration of these gasses can also
affect the taste of the water, but to a lesser degree, I think, than the
mineral level.

Not really.
Boiled and reboiled water kills bacteria naturally found in springs. The only thing it does for tap water is concentrate the metals (leached from the pipes) and halides (chlorine and fluorine).
If you want "pure" water, buy a filter, like Brita. Or buy distilled water from the market.
When water is distilled, it is boiled and at 212 degrees F the vapors go into a tube and drop to condense. The condensate is pure water.

No. Once water has been boiled once, it's safe to drink. Reboiling it won't make it any better or any worse and it won't affect your health in the slightest.

Tap water typically has enough chlorine to kill most germs, but boiling it will kill off more (but maybe not all). However, if you boil water for too long, it will chemically change and no longer be water, so don't boil it until half of the water in the pot is gone!

yes. You don't get as many live bacteria and microbes so you're less likely to get sick.
