I do not have a rash but the itching has gone on for a week now. I take 2 Benedryl every 6 hrs. but it doesn't help much. I have avoided melon and berries for a week now, but there is not a spot on my body that doesn't itch at sometime. It keeps me awake!

Head to the doctor.
It sounds like you amy need something stronger to help you, like a steroid shot.
Pepcid Ac also helps block histamines.

I have a lot of allergies - but nothing as bad as my reaction to Poison Ivy! The itch was terrible. I found relief by soaking in a cool tub with Aveeno Oatmeal bath. It soothes the skin and calms the reaction. Soak until the water is freezing and you cannot stand it any more. Then keep your skin as cool as possible. This will help to prevent relapse itching episodes. Try using an anti-itch lotion that contains 1% cortisone. I usually have a good response from Benadryl - but others prefer Zyrtec. You may have to go to the doctor to get an allergy shot with a corticosteroid or a prescription of prednisone.
I learned what not to do: very hot water! It temporarily relieves the itching but causes an even worse rebound.

I have a problem with hives (chronic idopathic uticara). I think I spelled that right. I have intolerances to certain foods. I went through one period when I was itching from head to toe for a while. I went to see an allergist and they had me on two antihistamines: Allegra in the day and Zrytec at night. This regime helped me until whatever it was that had built up in my system was gone. See an allergist.
