Sun Dress and some flats. No high heels. Go as comfortable as you can without looking sloppy, especially if it's an all-outdoor-event. For a work event the dress should hang around your knees or a smidge below.
Otherwise some comfortable slacks, a non-see-through lightweight top short sleeve top (no halters) flat dress shoe. etc.
Nothing too revealing and nothing too conversative. Gotta ride the line there. My guess is most of the guys will be wearing Polo's and khaki's, and the top money making peeps may be wearing dress shirts/tie/slacks.

Call the hosts of the barbeque to find out what the dress code is.It's the only way to know for certain.

I believe a simple sun dress would do and maybe a hat. and i wouldn't have the dress to revealing because it will make you look trashy. this does not sound like a( red-neck BBQ no offense to red necks) there my favorite!!! well have fun!!

I can't help it but your question reminds me of one Hyacinth from Keeping up Appearances would ask. She would wear a silk 2-piece suit, coordinating hat and gloves.
