I was told that it could take a couple of weeks. But I did the breast feeding and I slowly stopped nursing my babies and it took me about 3 weeks before my breasts stopped producing.

It takes 2 to 3 weeks before the hormones drop and you are no longer at risk for milk production. Until then, wear a good supportive bra (sports or exercise is best) and avoid any stimulation in any form - this includes shower water, wash cloth, towel.
By the way, they no longer give any type of medication - pills or shot - to dry up milk. One type of pill and the shot were hormone based - concern about cancer and all that. The last pill that was given was an anti-Parkinsonian drug that had the nasty potential for side effects like heart attack and stroke.

Quite a while before they totally dry up. But you'll get engorged (really, really full) a day or two after the baby is born. They stay engorged for a few days if you decide not to breastfeed. They say to hand express (squeeze with your hand) to get a little out so that it isn't too uncomfortable. Also, put warm compresses on your breasts. Take warm showers. And put cabbage leaves on your breasts. They say that dries them up. It took my sister-in-law about 8 days before she wasn't uncomfortable.

Not very long, but DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL... It produces milk.I tried to breasfeed with my first baby, and it was just not for me, it took only a few days to dry up, but back then the doctor gave pills to help that. Then when my daughter was born, those pills were no longer used, so I had to just wait.. after a few days I started to dry up, but... my husband and I started going out again, having cocktails, next thing I knew I had a full supply of milk again. That was not cool hahaha.. My doctor said alcohol is a no no when trying to dry up.

Alot of people on here said that you can go to your doctor and get medication to help you dry up, which is true, but an at home remedy is to put cabage leaves on your breasts, there is some sort of chemical reaction or something, I don't know why it works it just does.

A few people have suggested cabbage leaves but they forgot to tell you that the leaves need to be refridgerated. They work much better if they are cold.
Wear a bra, preferably a sports bra. Only express a SMALL amount, enough to only relieve the pressure, anything more will make your body think it needs to keep producing milk.
Hope this helps.

Any reason as to why your not breastfeeding? Its best.

2 to 3 weeks, make sure you keep a good fitting bra on 24/7 only remove it to shower and then don't let the water beat on you turn your back to the water. Try not to stimulate at all or it will take longer

It varies. Keep your lover away from them. Stimulation of about any sort helps to keep the milk flowing. Sorry, but that is true. If you are not expressing milk, it won't take as long. But if your breasts are recieving other stimulation, it could take longer.
