Is this a good exercise for someone who is 13 and trying to lose a little? 15 min. on treadmill in the morning, 25 push-ups, 25 crunches and 25 sit-ups. And I am dieting.

Please do not judge how much exercise you need by how much you weigh. Because muscle is more dense than fat, eventually you will stop losing weight in fat and gaining weight in muscle. Considering you are only 13, unless you have a large amount of fat around the stomach area, you probably do not need that much exercise, especially combined with dieting. Staying away from unhealthy food is good, but never go hungry, as it is worse than eating junk food and deprives your body of nutrition you use when you exercise. Stay active, and if you do notice fat in the stomach area, use your current exercise schedule, but DO NOT OVERWORK YOURSELF. If you tremble after an exercise or feel weaker than you should, drink a high energy liquid like gatorade to restore your electrolytes and calories. And always remember, your fitness should be a top priority because you see it that way, not because others consider you overweight.

That is a good start, but there is something in fitness called the overload principle. In other words, if you keep doing the same workout day after day, your body adjusts and your routine becomes less effective. Every week, you'll need to increase either the time or intensity of your treadmill workout. Dump the situps and try to do more pushups and crunches each time.

Yes, this sounds good, can I offer a suggestion? I would increase the treadmill to at least 25 minutes for weight loss, your body actually starts burning fat after 20. Anything after 20 is good. I hope your "diet" is a good one with good food in it, as you need alot of nutrients at your age.

I would try to work up gradually to 30 min on the cardio (but don't overdo it). The ab work will make your mid section firm, but it won't burn off any fat in that area. The only way to do that is with cardio exercise and diet.
Make sure you get enough nutrition while you're dieting. Sounds like you're on the right track.

In addition to the previous answers, I'd suggest taking your measurements and checking out how your clothes feel... don't become fixated on a number on the scale because that doesn't accurately tell you how 'healthy' you are in terms of muscle to fat ration.
Everything in moderation -- over a span of a lifetime -- and you'll likely remain fit and healthy.

Sounds good to me, honey. Also, just make sure you're active. Walk anywhere that you can, do physical activities with your friends (hey, going to school dances counts if you actually dance!), when invited to play softball, join in. That kind of stuff. I go for bike rides with my kids or play ball with them or take the dog for a walk. Little things count, too. Just be active!

that's great. the dieting part depends on how you do it. I do not agree with dieting. to loose weigth just eat lots of vegetables, eat fish and chicken not a lot of red meat. Eat fruit in the morning not night time and NO soda or lots of sweets. a lot of water
