I've had swollen pitted tonsils for about a year, and as a result my singing voice has gotten lower, and almost impossible to phonate, my doctor keeps treating me with antibiotics, should I go see an ENT specialist, before it's too late?

Yes, if your voice is a major concern to you, you should see the specialist. Anything in your mouth or throat changing shape or size could change your voice. Swelling of the tonsils (or their removal) CAN change your voice. My cousin had a gorgeous singing voice, very resonant and rich. He had his tonsils out due to a similar situation, and his voice lost some of the richness. Removal may not cause the same results in everyone, though, it sounds as if the swollen tonils are deepening your voice, so removal may have the opposite effect, and return it to what it was.

Again, since this is important to you, see the specialist. Even if s/he cannot help you, they may be able to refer you to a doctor who specializes in working with singers and their throat problems.

I can tell you this my now 4 year old had enlarged tonsils, which I was unaware of until he was just about 3, and because his tonsils were enlarged it delayed his talking. We had them removed and he is in speech therapy and can speak now but still has problems with pronunciation.
so can it affected your singing voice YES should you see and ENT YES!!

Sounds like tonsillitis already if it is recurring. You probably need a tonsillectomy. About the voice, not sure .

Yes, Yes, and Yes.

You may have nodules on the vocal cords, and that can be taken care of with a surgical procedure called laryngoscopy.

I would. Chronically infected tonsils may have to be removed. It is easier to do it while you're young.
