The best way to get a flatter stomach is to make adjustments to your lifestyle. You have probably seen oodles of informercials that tell you to get some sort of ab device that will give you a 6-pack in no time. However, reality is that if you want to have a flat stomach, you need total body fitness. First of all, you will want to do some weight training which includes exercises for your upper and lower body and including crunches for your abs. Cardio will also help you to get rid of excess body fat. You need a balanced diet including whole grains, fruits, vegetables and also some fat (yes, your body does need some fat). Cut out all sugar in your diet and refined carbohydrates (white breads) and choose foods that are high in nutrients. This sounds like a lot but when you incorporate all of this in small steps, you will feel great, look toned and have a great stomach!

Besides a proper diet, and the typical crunches, to get good results and burn any excess fat in the stomach area, do cardio!! LOTS of it!! And remember, it takes effect AFTER 20 minutes..... I always do 1 hour of cardio per workout!
