For the same reason they see reality in clear cut terms: white/black; good/wrong; correct/incorrect; evolution/creationism; US/terrorism... without realizing that:
* one implies the other and viceversa
* there's a whole universe of grey shades in between
* Old Confucius' saying still holds true: "When confronted with only two ways, choose the third one."

hate what? hating a race or religion is just pure hatred and/or ignorance. hating/disliking a specific person may be justified with a good reason.
(if u ask me, "how can u justify hate?" then, will u admit that u dont hate a person like Hitler or someone who commits terrible crimes against u or ur loved once?)

Some people have very limited vocabularies. Not everyone is articulate or eloquent in describing their true emotions. In todays society people are prone to generalizing. Black and whites..... no greys..They've just grown lazy. Why ask why?
