He wasn't the first by a long shot. Buddha said similar things 500 years earlier, and the idea has been kicking around as soon as money was invented.
Maybe on some level people have always yearned to get back to a tribal society, which is what we first had. It's some atavistic desire for the primitive, perhaps.

Why dont you ask them? God says its hard for a rich man to get to Heaven because he becomes prideful and thinks he doesnt need God now that he has a bunch of money. Giving some money away keeps you humble.

it's not that if ur rich it is hard to get in heaven.
it is the rich and greedy that it is hard to get in heaven because they becoem so attached to the things of this world, and then they die and they think they can take everything that they have with them. but they can't
you can be rich, but you cant be attached to the things of this world.

You are pulling out one scripture and misunderstanding it. It is all God's money. We are stewards of it. That means we have to manage it properly. Giving it all away is not managing it. The biblical thing to do is to make it increase so that we will always be able to give generously.

When you tithe faithfully as God directs, you find that He is the source of all things. The more you give away for His glory, the more is returned to you.
