Be compliant with your therapy. This is a difficult one to live with, but you can overcome it if you make sure you are compliant. Find someone you trust, and let them know to "police" you if you need it. Then trust them to do it.

You can overcome this, there is really no meds that will correct this, what you need to do is be very aware of your actions, do not seek negative attention, if your a cutter..do not do that.
this is off webmd below...check out that site search borderline personality d/o
Treatment Overview

Borderline personality disorder is difficult to treat. Relapse, which is a return of your symptoms, is a common problem, and many people with the disorder have difficult relationships with their counselors or other health professionals. However, it is possible to recover from the damaging behaviors associated with borderline personality disorder.

Many people find relief from destructive symptoms within the first year of proper treatment.3 About half of those treated for this condition find that they no longer have most of the behaviors after about 10 years of treatment.3

Consistent, long-term treatment of borderline personality disorder is important in improving your symptoms and the quality of your life.

Successful treatment for borderline personality disorder can be more difficult if you have:

Been abused as a child.
Experienced symptoms early in life.
Had continuous symptoms over a long period of time.
Continued to be unable to control your emotions.
Experienced problems with aggression, substance abuse, or other mental health conditions, such as depression.

Hmmm..... 1st thing, DON'T label yourself *borderline*. You're still you. Some parts of you are ok, some are weird enough to get you that diagnosis. Learn how to recognize and handle them. May take a while, but it's possible. You may need professional help to learn how.

Don't use your diagnosis as an excuse fto get away with odd or bad behaviour. If you identify with the diagnosis, it will eventually take over your personality and you'll become *a borderline patient*.

Some psychologists claim that *borderline* is a very vague diagnosis, used to classify people that are somewhat odd but not odd enough to be psychotic or depressed enough to be neurotic. People love to put labels on everything, coz the world gets more comprehensible that way.

Trust your common sense, check w your friends and family when in doubt and find out as much as possible about your disorder. You'll find a way. Don't give up, ever.

there is no longer something that won't be able to be executed. A therapist would help yet keep in recommendations it will be trial and mistake to discover the right therapist. I actually have intense rigidity so i think that it truly has similarities. i'm afraid to bypass out and am particularly anti social. My frame of mind may help you. First. keep in mind that each thing will be ok. stress makes it worse so once you stress out of sense apprehensive or afraid its suited to in straightforward words end, leave the room, bypass outside, get rid of your self from the region, etc and take a second to assemble your self. do no longer sense compelled. that's at YOUR p.c..! once you sense waiting! Take infant steps! Small little issues to finish will do a load of reliable! it is going to take a at the same time as likely many years yet in a three hundred and sixty 5 days you'll look back and merely feeling the delight in your self will make you sense reliable and that could overpower many psychological diseases. once you've acquaintances and kinfolk to assist you thats even more effective acceptable.

The most successful and effective psychotherapeutic approach to date has been Marsha Linehan's Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Research conducted on this treatment have shown it to be more effective than most other psychotherapeutic and medical approaches to helping a person to better cope with this disorder. It seeks to teach the client how to learn to better take control of their lives, their emotions, and themselves through self-knowledge, emotion regulation, and cognitive restructuring. It is a comprehensive approach that is most often conducted within a group setting.

Therapy. It sounds extreme but you wont need the full therapy, just someone who can help. Personality disorders can be brought on by things such as negative or incorrect thinking and so on. If someone can help adjust these then you should get along fine.

Be patient and compliant and willing to let others help you. The number one step you took was going to the doctor. Take it easy and read up on the disorder to arm yourself with knowledge.
Take care and best of luck.

First of all, that's not a mental illness. It's a nice way of saying you are to a noticeable extent, a psychopath. There is not "cure" for that. You just have to learn how to hide the tell-tale signs better.

See your psychologist and a doctor to see if you need to take medication for your problem. I have a mental disorder and I never felt so under control and good since I have been on my meds (Lexapro) and seeing a psychologist once a week. Good luck to you.

I think you just need to take your medication. As far as I know there is no "cure" for mental illness, but there is treatment. Just follow the doctor's orders and you will be good to go. It is important to stay on your medication, you may think you are feeling better and you don't need it. but it is better to stay on it if that is what you were prescribed. Take care.
