i am about 4 years away from opening my own restaurant, but still i constanly think about menu/style/decor of it. but i haven't quite settled on a name yet. i was thinking of "tapenade" and serving tapenade w/toasted ciabbatta bread at every table before the appetizers.......any other great ideas? the menu will be alot of rustic pasta dishes, seafood, salad entrees, open faces sandwiches, and personal sized, specialty pizzas.........remember if i like the one you named i might use it, so don't give away your favorite if you plan to open a restaurant...........thanks

Flakie's Trattoria! Who wouldn't eat there!? ;-)
I do like Trattoria, though. How about "La Trattoria Magico"? Check the spelling in Italian, but it has a nice sound to it.

I like "Tapenade"... it's straight forward and catchy. It's also the name of a very popular restaurant in La Jolla, California. http://www.tapenaderestaurant.com/
.Other thoughts are:
Rustic Pasta
Buon Gusto!
De Bon Ton
I'm sure you'll find something perfect. Maybe a twist on your own name or in honor of a family member that fostered your love of cooking. Good luck & best wishes!!

Since tapenade is French in origin, and contains olives, why not "La Branche Olive," French for "The Olive Branch."
Also, tapenade is from the Provencal region; you could call it "Cafe Provencal." (the "c" has a hook on it). Anyway, just two ideas.

Try a name that is easy to remember and rolls off the tongue. Tapenade doesn't. Theres all sorts of names, suite,(as in sweet but spelt differently) pickle, one word, plastic, silver, anything people will go wow, why did they chose that name? what type of place is that? Lets go in and check it out. Keep you rname simple and keep yourr customers guessing as to why you would chose such a name so they can come in and ask you, then its all up to you to sell your product and keep customers.

don't use your name,. it will sound ghetto. tapenade is cool, but i don't even know what it means, try an original name most people will understand. like "the spaghetti stop" or "taste of italy"
or "the olive pit"
